Top to Bottom: Jon Boise of the New Haven Fire Department is the 2009 ACFA Line Officer of the Year.  Jon is a 15 year veteran and was instrumental in developing New Haven’s heavy rescue operation.
   Chief Richard “Rick”Cole was awarded a Life Member designation in the ACFA during their recent annual meeting in Ferrisburgh. Chief Cole was recognized for his leadership and his outstanding service to his community and the fire service. Chief Cole joined the Middlebury Fire Department in 1975.

Top to Bottom: Jon Boise of the New Haven Fire Department is the 2009 ACFA Line Officer of the Year. Jon is a 15 year veteran and was instrumental in developing New Haven’s heavy rescue operation. Chief Richard “Rick”Cole was awarded a Life Member designation in the ACFA during their recent annual meeting in Ferrisburgh. Chief Cole was recognized for his leadership and his outstanding service to his community and the fire service. Chief Cole joined the Middlebury Fire Department in 1975.
Top To Bottom: Butch Dupont has 30 years of outstanding service in the Monkton Fire Department.  He has been Chief for 18 years.  Known as an excellent educator and motivator,  Chief Dupont was recognized for his service and dedication to the future of his department with a Life Member designation in the ACFA at their annual meeting.
   Chief Tony Porter of the Starksboro Volunteer Fire Department is known as a man who can get things done and can “get along with anyone.”  Chief  Porter  joined the Department in 1990 and has proven to be a leader ever since.   He is President of the Board of Trustees and a member of the ACFA Arson Investigation Squad.
   Chief Porter was awarded the 2009 ACFA Francis Shorey Chief of the Year at the associations annual meeting on Wednesday evening 1-20-09.       
   Addison County State Representative Greg Clark reads a resolution passed by unanimous vote in the Vermont General Assembly recognizing the life-long dedication to firefighters and their families by the late and beloved Vergennes Fire Chief Ralph Jackman.

The event held at the Eagles Club reception hall in Ferrisburgh was well attended by firefighters from each representative town and a number of special guests from business, law enforcement, political and the private sector.  Vermont Governor James Douglas and Lt Governor Brian Dubie thanked the membership for their “commitment and dedication to the citizens of Addison County.”

Recently passed, Chief Jackman’s presence in spirit at this years annual meeting set a special tone.  For his family members present some of  whom are also firefighters, it will be a evening they will hold close for many years to come.  It was also a special moment for Youth Firefighter Bork Levasseur.  The young firefighter began his career as a cadet in 2008 was presented with the ACFA Ralph Jackman Youth Firefighter of the Year Award for 2009.
