A special vote has been set for May 23, 2017 and has been warned for residents of Addison, Bridport and Shoreham who are legal voters of the Tri-Town Water District No.1.
The legal voters have also been notified that an informational hearing will be held at the Masonic Hall on 52 Crown Point Road in the Town of Bridport on May 22, 2017 beginning at 7:00 p.m. to explain the proposed water system improvements, costs and the financing involved.
The Board of Commissioners adopted and approved seeking voter approval for the project on April 20, 2017 and it was recorded in the records of the Tri-Town Water District No. 1 on April 21, 2017
The official ballot for the Special Meeting on May 23rd of 2017 will read as follows:  “Shall general obligation bonds or notes of Tri-Town Water District No.1 in an amount not to exceed One Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($1,500,000), subject to reduction from the receipt of grants-in-aid and the application of available reserves, be issued for the purpose making certain public water system improvements, namely the construction of a 760,000 storage tank off Route 74 West in the Town of Shoreham, such improvements are estimated to coast One million Five hundred thousand Dollars ($1,500,000)?
Upon closing the polls, after the vote on May 23rd, ballots will be commingled and counted at the Tri-Town Water  District Office in Bridport by representatives of the boards of Civil Authority from the Towns of Addison, Bridport and Shoreham under the supervision of the District Clerk.
Tri-Town Water District No. 1 was formed in 1965 and has been a mainstay in providing a source of clean drinking water for the member towns and a water supply for their fire services.
In December of 2016 a series of unforeseen events including a ruptured pipe and leaking prompted Tri-Town Commissioners to review the current infrastructure and further access the long term viability of the system.  Repairs were made and the system was placed back on line.
Commissioners are confident that the proposed improvements and the new tank purchase now before the district voters will solve the problem well into the future.
