Fifty members of the Vergennes American Legion attended the June meeting of the Vergennes American Legion Post # 14 for the annual selection of officers. June is typically the month for selection of officers for the upcoming year. Two candidates were running for this year’s top job, Paul Paquin and the incumbent Dennis Steady. After the votes were counted, Paquin successfully defeated Dennis Steady and will begin his new duties at an installation ceremony in early July. Paquin is a United States Marine Corps veteran with 14 months of active duty as a machine gunner. He has over 30 years of membership in the Vergennes American Legion and recently served as the Legion’s membership chairman. In civilian life he is a general contractor and has built several homes in the Addison County area. Other officers elected to serve with commander-elect Paquin are: 1st Vice Commander Darren Muzzy; Adjutant Roger Norton; Finance Officer Wally Howard; Sgt-at-Arms Ralph Wenzel; Chaplain Mary Gutreuter; Service Officer Mike Wojciechowski; and Historian Elwyn Flynn. The Legion also elected Martin Casey, John Wagner and Willard Hastings as Trustee for the coming year.
