Walter R. Jones

Bristol -  Walter R. Jones 63 died Sunday February 4, 2007 at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington surrounded by his family.

    He was born July 11, 1943 in Milton the son of Frank and Katherine Sweeney Jones.

    Walter is survived by his wife Karen Jones of Bristol; a daughter, Linda Jones of Bristol; a son, John Paul Jones of South Hero; stepdaughter, Jessica L. Sullo of Pittsburgh, PA; Stepson Benjamin Sullo of Bristol; three granddaughters, Melissa Jones of Vergennes; Crystal Lee Jones of Bristol; Moriah Jones of Essex; a brother Gary; two sisters, Shirley and Mabel; several nieces and nephews.

    A gathering was held on Saturday February 10th at Walter and Karen’s home in Bristol. Interment will be at a later date. Contributions may be made to Bristol Rescue Squad Bristol, VT 05443. Brown McClay Funeral Home in Bristol will be in charge of arrangements.

 

Quentin L. Shackett

SHOREHAM - Quentin L Shackett, 94, died peacefully on February 7, 2007 with family by his side.

He was born in Turners Falls, MA on March 26, 1912 to Rose (Lucia) and Victor Shackett.

     In 1924, he moved to Shoreham with his family and helped his father work on the farm at Hand‚s Cove. This began a life long love of animals of all kinds.  He attended grade school at the one room schoolhouse on Smith Street and he attended high school in Brandon.

   He married Clarice Couture in 1933 in Orwell.  They made their home in Shoreham and raised four children.     Their home was always open to friends and neighbors in need.  Quentin worked during WWII at a Defense Plant in Holyoke, Mass from 1942 to 1944.  He returned home to work as a fabricator / welder and mechanic at his garage in Shoreham Village, and could build or fix anything. 

   Quentin was a proud Shoreham resident with over 50 years of dedicated service to the town.  He was a founding and lifetime member of the Shoreham Fire Department.  He served several years on the Shoreham School Board, Road Commission, and Select Board.

   He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his sister Beulah, and his brother Kenneth.  He was also predeceased by his wife Clarice in 2002, his son Robert Shackett in 2004, and granddaughter Stephanee Shackett.  He is survived by his sisters Naomi Briere of Benson, Barbara Fitzpatrick of Middlebury, two sons, William and wife Marlene Shackett of Burlington; Thomas Shackett of Columbia, SC; one daughter, Brenda and husband Burton Smith of Shoreham, VT; and daughter -in-law Jean Shackett of Shoreham.  He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services   held   Monday, February 12 at 10 am at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Shoreham.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Shoreham Volunteer Fire Dept. 53 Firehouse Rd Shoreham, VT 05770 or St. Genevieve‚s Women‚s Guild P.O. Box 145 Shoreham, VT c/o Ellen Young.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Mallory Funeral Services.

 

Ireland Sky Hanlon

Addison-Ireland Sky Hanlon passed away on Wednesday, February 7th, 2007 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, VT.

     She is survived by her parents John and Cassandra Hanlon of Addison; a brother Zayne Hanlon; maternal grandparents Brenda and Steven New of Ballston Spa, NY; paternal grandparents Tim and Teresa Hanlon of Addison; three great grandmothers, Edna Rivers of Addison, Mary Orvis of Ripton, Maureen Ash of New York; a great grandfather Frederick New of Sudbury; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

     Funeral services will be at 11 am on Monday February 12th at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes.  Interment will be at Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol.  

 

Lee J. Fleming

Panton- Lee J. Fleming 48 passed away Friday February 9, 2007 at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

       He was born July 22, 1958 in Burlington the son of Ned and Geraldine Holmes Fleming.

       Lee is survived by his daughter, Lilly Anne Fleming of Bridport; his parents, Ned and Geraldine Fleming of Panton; two sisters, Lynn Finch and husband Charles of Warden, Washington; Lisa Preston and husband Chris of Addison; two brothers, Larry Fleming and wife Denise of Addison; Lance Fleming and wife Penny of Bridport, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

     A celebration of his life will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday February 13th at St. Peter’s Parish Hall in Vergennes. Interment will be at a later date. . In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to his family. Brown McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes will be in charge of arrangements.
