    The Vergennes boys had an intense week of basketball. On Tuesday, they played the Middlebury Tigers. In the first quarter, the two teams stayed close, but the Tigers snuck ahead by two. The score at the end of the quarter was 16-14. In the second quarter, Vergennes began their comeback, scoring nineteen points to Middlebury’s ten. The half ended with a score of 33-26, Commodores. In the third quarter, the Commodores continued to stretch their lead, but Middlebury was still not too far behind. The score at the end of the their quarter was 43-30, Vergennes.

    In the final quarter, Middlebury came back with a fury. Aided by several three-pointers, they made the gap between the teams very narrow. But in the end, it was the Commodores who ended the game on top. The final score was 59-53, Vergennes. High scorers for Vergennes were juniors Allen LaBerge and Jesse Lalumiere with thirteen points each, and sophomore Josh Carter with fifteen. For the Tigers, it was juniors William Audet and Tucker Burns with ten points apiece and Lance Robinson with twelve.

    On Thursday, the boys faced off against their biggest rival, the Mount Abraham Eagles. In the first quarter, Both teams stayed close, ending the quarter 16-14, Eagles. In the second quarter, Vergennes closed the small gap, and surpassed Mount Abraham by one point. The tense first half ended with a score of 29-28, Vergennes.

    In the third quarter, Vergennes continued to hold on to their lead, and increase the gap. The third quarter ended 38-34, Commodores. In the fourth quarter, Mount Abraham really picked up their game. The Commodores tried to hang on to their lead, but the Eagles were able to slip by, scoring the points necessary to seal their victory. The final score was 54-43, Mount Abraham. High scorers for Vergennes were Josh Carter with thirteen and junior Jesse Lalumiere. For the Eagles, it was senior Trent Roleau with twenty points.
