VUHS Girls Varsity Basketball

    The Vergennes girls played the South Burlington Rebels Friday night in a tough game. In the first quarter, South Burlington took an early lead, closing out 15-9. But, in the second quarter, Vergennes began to come back. Aided by two three-pointers from senior Mandy Scott, and one from junior Abby Benton, the Commodores narrowed the gap to only two points.

    The half ended with a score of 20-18, Rebels. In the third quarter, South Burlington slowly crept ahead once again. The quarter finished 33-25, South Burlington.

    In the fourth quarter, the Rebels kept their lead and played to a win. The final score was 47-36, Rebels. High scorer for Vergennes was junior Abby Benton with nineteen points. For the Rebels, it was sophomore Kelsey Beynnon with twenty-three points.
