MARC L. LaPETE

NEW HAVEN – Marc L. LaPete, 37, died Friday, January 5, 2007, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. He was born in Middlebury December 3, 1969, the son of Wilfred (Pete) and Yvette (Booska) LaPete.

   He was a 1987 graduate of Mount Abraham Union High School and Champlain College.

   Marc was a proud member of the New Haven Volunteer Fire Department. During his twenty years of service he was truck captain, served on the tanker committee, he was instrumental in designing engine one, worked on the recertification program, and was pump operator. He spent countless hours on training on the new engine for himself and others.

   He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #14 and the Addison County Aeries Eagles in Vergennes.

   Marc is survived by his loving parents Pete and Yvette of New Haven; and his brother, Christopher LaPete of Waltham; grandmother, Rita Booska of New Haven; many aunts and uncles, and several cousins.

   He was predeceased by his grandparents, Ernest and Isabelle LaPete, and Lawrence Booska.

   A celebration of his life was held at St. Peter's Church in Vergennes on Wednesday, January 10, with interment at St. Peter's Cemetery.

Robert G. Briggs Sr.

 

STARKSBORO-Robert G. Briggs Sr. 63, peacefully joined his parents on Monday, January 1, 2007 at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury with his family by his side.

   He was born on March 9, 1943 in Vergennes the son of Ralph A. and Kalma (Thompson) Briggs.

   Bob was an avid Yankee fan. He also loved college basketball, bowling and fishing. He was known for his quiet manner and sense of humor. He enjoyed playing hide and peek, water fights, teaching his children to play ball and ride bikes.

   Bob will also be missed by his cats, Baby, Tigee, Fluffy and Pugsy.

   He is survived by his wife Sandra (Charbonneau) Briggs of Starksboro, three children, Deborah and Gary Brown, Robert G and Lisa Briggs Jr. and Jason Briggs all of Starksboro, seven grandchildren, Danielle, Tanya, Justin, Kayla, Casey, Buddy, Madison, two great grandchildren Michael, Kayden, brother Chester Briggs of MA., five sisters, Marguerite and Robert Bradshaw of NH., Janet and Harold Barrett of Bridport, Virginia Merrill of Hardwick, Nancy and Richard Daniels of New Haven, Sharon and Tim Mills of NC., several nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services were held Jan. 5 at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Interment was  in Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven.  Contributions may be may to the Starksboro First Response, Starksboro 05487 or Bristol Rescue Squad, Bristol 05443.
