Darcy Tarte, Chair of the Addison County Chamber of Commerce's Publicity and Promotions Committee is pleased to announce that the December 2006 Business of the Month award recipient is Redstone.

Redstone was established by Doug Nedde and Larry Williams in the early 1990's as a commercial real estate company, which has grown rapidly in its 14 year history providing a wide range of services including brokerage of properties for sale and lease, development, site selection, construction, property management and other advisory services. Their main office, which employs just under 20 people, is located in Burlington, and their business activities are concentrated in Chittenden, Addison and Franklin counties, markets whose demographics, economic conditions, development trends and regulatory environment are most familiar to them. The firm's portfolio includes several projects in Middlebury, in particular the development of Battel Hill Town Homes on Seminary Street, Catamount Office Park on Exchange Street, and most notably the Marble Works Residences, a 30 unit condominium complex presently under construction in the Marble Works Historic District.

Duncan Harris, a resident of Ferrisburg and volunteer fire fighter, has worked as a Sales & Leasing Agent for Redstone for almost 4 years. He is very active in the commercial real estate market in Addison County. He acknowledges the differences between the Burlington and Middlebury markets and explains how his involvement in the local community gives him a better understanding of the economy, the business owners, and the trends.

As a company, Redstone is extremely generous with staff time and financial resources, as is evident by the number of organizations in which they are involved. Redstone's extensive corporate sponsorships reflect an interest in supporting the continued economic and cultural growth of the area, while donations to local, regional, and national non-profit groups demonstrate support of many important causes regardless of the visibility it offers the company in return. Redstone understands the value its business participation can bring to an event, campaign, etc., including being the lead sponsor of the 12th Annual Addison County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Golf Tournament held in July.

Redstone has been the recipient of several awards, including “2004 Business of The Year” awarded by The Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce for its growth and success, as well as for its ability to create a supportive atmosphere for its employees. They have also received the Historic Preservation Award, the Preservation Trust Award, and the Chittenden County Historical Society Award for their restoration of The Hall Block, a 4-story multi-tenant commercial building in downtown Burlington, where Redstone's main office is located.

The Addison County Chamber of Commerce is proud to have Redstone as a member and congratulates them on being chosen as the December 2006 Business of the Month!
