More than 30 years ago in a small and modest space on Bakery  Lane in Middlebury, the “Round Robin Thrift Shop” was established by a small  but very committed group of Porter Hospital supporters.

Now, after generating more than $1 million in donations in support of Porter
Medical Center, the new “Round Robin Upscale Resale” shop formally dedicated
its new, larger and more modern retail operation in the Marble Works Complex.
“We are thrilled with our new space and have been deeply gratified by the  response from our volunteers, customers and the many visitors who have  stopped by over the past month just to check out our new home”, said Porter  spokesman Ron Hallman.  “Our manager, Robin Huestis, and our volunteers  have worked tirelessly for many weeks moving out of our most recent Park Street  location into the former Danforth Pewterers retail space-and we are so grateful  for their incredible efforts”, he added.

The new Round Robin still offers a wide variety of clothing for the entire family,
house wares and other miscellaneous items for very modest prices, but anyone
who has not yet visited the new shop will be surprised by the “new feel” of the
shop and the consistently high quality of the merchandise.

Shop manager Robin Huestis is always on the look out for new volunteers, as
well as donations of merchandise for the store.  All proceeds are turned over to
the Porter Medical Center Auxiliary, and are eventually donated to either Porter
Hospital or Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.  Last year, the
Auxiliary added another $100,000 to its original pledge of $250,000 for the new
“North Project” as a cornerstone gift to the $4.4 million raised from the  community to date.

The new store was dedicated on Friday, November 10th with the support of the  Addison County Chamber of Commerce.  For more information about the new Round Robin or to volunteer, call Robin Huestis at 388-6396.
