Wayne Joseph Heath

Waltham— Wayne Joseph Heath, 66 died unexpectedly Monday September 4, 2006.

He was born at home on October 6, 1939 in Barre, VT. He was the son of Eldon and Honorinda (Cobo) Heath.

He was a 6th generation Vermonter born and raised in Barre, VT. He graduated from Spaulding High School in 1957, enlisted in the United States Air Force. After honorable discharge, he worked with his Dad in the family painting business. In 1964 he joined the Vermont State Police, where he served as a trooper, sergeant and eventually a detective. This took him and his family to the far reaches of the state, including the Northeast Kingdom. He retired in 1990 and this profession was more to him than a job.

After retirement from the force he explored many avenues including private investigating. For the last several years he continued public service as Addison County Side Judge. He also loved driving around the country for Denecker Chevrolet. He was an avid photographer all his life, a passion passed to him by his father. He enjoyed boating Lake Champlain in It fitz II a passion surpassed by his love for golf.

Wayne is survived by his mother, Honorinda Heath, wife of 47 years Susan (Ferno) Heath, daughter Laurie Bannister and her husband Ken, son Randy and wife Rebecca, daughter Jodi Plankey and husband Michael, a son Justin and fiancé Mahua Dasgupta. He leaves 8 grandchildren for whom he was their guidance, Jacob, Benjamin, David, Mathew, Mary Kathryn, Abbey, Grace and Sawyer. He is also survived by his only brother Allan and his wife Ginella and several nieces and nephews. Also very special to him was his sister in law Deborah Fielder and her family.

WARREN J. LEVANGIA

Vergennes— Warren J. Levangia died on September 1, 2006 at the age of 84.

Born in Lynn, Massachusetts on January 27, 1922, he was the son of Joseph N. and Alma (Lessard) LeVangia, both of Lynn.

He joined the service following high school graduation in 1939. A veteran of WWII, Warren was a proud member of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division. He made two parachute jumps behind enemy lines and fought in Sicily and Italy for seven months as platoon staff sergeant and company operation sergeant before being taken prisoner at the Anzio beachhead in Italy. He spent one year and three months as a POW in Germany before the war ended.

Warren made one of his last parachute jumps at the age of 72, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of D-Day at St. Mere Eglise in Normandy with 37 other WWII paratroopers.

Warren was a jeweler and watchmaker in Ticonderoga, NY, for twenty years and in Burlington, VT until he was 76.

His wife of 60 years,  Jeanne (Deschenes) LeVangia, died in 2005. He is deeply mourned by three children, Peter of Kingston, NY; Susan Tremont of Manchester, MO; and Frances of Essex Junction, VT; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Services will be private. The Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph, Vermont at a later date.

Jason T. Gravelle

Starksboro, VT/ Port Henry, NY— Jason T. Gravelle 31, died unexpectedly Saturday September 2, 2006 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

He was born on April 17, 1975 in Ticonderoga, NY the son of Sandra Nicklaw and James Gravelle.

He would do anything for anybody, loved his children, and spoiled them outrageously. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed ice fishing. He attended Moriah Central School and then worked as a carpenter for 11 years.

Jason is survived by his wife Shelly Gravelle and their three children, Thomas, Christopher, and Kortnee all of Starksboro; his mother Sandra Nicklaw of Leicester; his father James Gravelle of Port Henry, NY; mother in law, Sue Baker of Starksboro; three sisters, Holly, Billie Jo, and Becky; a brother, JorEl; his grandmother, Jean Wykes of Port Henry, NY; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service was held on Saturday September 9th at Starksboro First Baptist Church. Contributions may be made to Starksboro First Response Starksboro, VT 05487 or Bristol Area Rescue Squad Bristol, VT 05443

Lila M. Davis

Bristol — Lila M. Davis, 87 died Saturday September 2, 2006 in Bristol at the home of Kirk and Linda Roscoe.

She was born July 23, 1919 in Bristol the daughter of Glenn and Alta (Rockwell) Aldrich.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She liked feeding her birds, giving cookies to the children and family visits.

Lila is survived by her daughter, Louise Murray and husband James of East Middlebury; two sons, Larry Davis and his wife Rita of New Haven; Fred Davis and Ellen of Poultney; nine grandchildren, May Morse of Middlebury; Debra Brouillard of Rochester; Marilyn Malzac of Middlebury; Dawn Murray of Rochester; Paul Davis of Bristol; George Davis of Bristol; Jody Davis of Williston; Dan Davis of Shaftsbury; Todd Davis of Poultney; 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Leonard Aldrich of Bristol, Conn.; four sisters, Anna Clough of Bristol; Sheila Charron of Shelburne; Grace Burt of Brandon; Violet Wimett of Bristol, Conn. several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son, Robert Davis; three brothers, Ronald, Donald, and Maxwell; two sisters, Betty Clark and Teresa Sawyer.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday September 6th at Brown McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Interment will be in Maple Cemetery in Lincoln.  Contributions may be made to Addison County Home Health & Hospice Rt 7 Middlebury, VT 05753.
