John P. “Jack” Danahy

Middlebury - John P. Danahy, 69, died at Starr Farm Nursing Center on Tuesday August 22, 2006 following a long illness.

He was born January 22, 1937 in Lawrence, MA to John and Rita (Daly) Danahy.

He attended Central Catholic High School and graduated from Boston College in 1958. Jack served in the U.S Coast Guard from 1958 to 1962. On January 31, 1958, he was united in marriage to Patricia M Jaskal in Lawrence, MA.

Jack is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, daughter Ellen and her husband, Alan Liptak of Moretown, son John III and his wife Julie of Orwell, son Kevin of Worcester, MA and daughter Maryann and her Husband, Jim White of Hampstead, NH; six grandchildren; Andrew, Daniel, and Keelia Liptak; Casey and Patty Danahy, and Carlie White; his mother Rita Danahy of North Andover, MA. His brothers Richard and wife Kathleen of Plaistow, NH, James Danahy of Falls Church, VA. Patrick and Anne Danahy of Methuen, MA and Michael Danahy of Juno Beach, FL; a brother in law, Walter White of Methuen, MA, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, John Danahy and his sister Donna White.

Jack worked many years for Simmonds Precision, BF Goodrich and Addison Northeast Supervisory Union. He was affiliated with Addison County Eagles and the Bristol American Legion and held many offices including past president and Addison County Commander; he was a great fan of Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, Celtics and local Mt. Abe sports as well as Irish music. He will be missed for his quick wit and wry humor.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 2nd at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Bristol Rescue Squad P. O. Box 227 Bristol 05443 or the Lamoille Ambulance Service P.O. Box 352 Johnson 05656. The family would like to thank the staffs of the Starr Farm Nursing Center and the Fletcher Allen Dialysis Unit for their help and support.
