Honorary Fire Chief Harris Paul Brassard

Bristol - Harris Paul Brassard, 73 died Monday June 5, 2006 at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury after a short battle with cancer.
    He was born August 10, 1932 in Ferrisburgh the son of Arthur and Zenaide (Berthiaume) Brassard, who were also the parents of Jeannine Kilbourn and Claude Brassard.
    Harris was a high school graduate, retired from Simmonds Precision as a master machinist in 1989. He joined the Bristol Fire Dept. June 5, 1955 and remained a member until June 5, 2006. He held many positions during this time, one as Chief Officer for 12 years. He received numerous awards from the Bristol Dept., the county, and the state. He was also a member of the Vermont Fire Fighters Association. He loved and took much pride in being a Fire Fighter.
        He was also a member of the Bristol Bakeries “Old Pharts Coffee Club” meeting every morning.
     Harris loved to watch and support his Grandsons Jared and Andrews’s basketball, and baseball games.
    Harris married Mary L Wisell July 31, 1954 in St. Ambrose Parish in Bristol. She still survives him as well as their children and grandchildren, son Daniel and his children Amber and Jeffrey, daughters Jeannette, Joanne, Michele and husband Cory Steady and their sons Cory Jr. and Ryan, Andrea Malzac and sons Jared and Andrew, as well as his son in law Richard Malzac, survived aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his best buddy Puff, his cat.
    The family wishes to thank Dr Kevin Mulhulland, Addison County Home Health and Hospice, and a very special nurse Heidi Fox, Porter Medical Center for the special care and understanding shown to Harris and his family during this difficult time.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Ambrose Church in Bristol on Saturday June 10 at 11a.m. Interment will be in Mt St Joseph Cemetery in Bristol. Family and Bristol Fire Dept members may call at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
     In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bristol Fire Dept. or Mt Abraham Union High Athletic Dept, Bristol 05443

Graham Rainsford Palmer

Middlebury - Graham Rainsford Palmer, 78, well known and liked electrician in the Bristol- Middlebury area died Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Fletcher Allen Health Care following a brief hospital stay.

Born in Nashua, NH. on August 22, 1927 the son of George F and Alma (Dalrymple) Palmer.

Graham was a U. S Navy veteran, former Bristol Volunteer Fireman, and Bristol American Legion member Post #19.

He was predeceased by his wife Mary.

At 78, he worked part-time and enjoyed a full active life.

He will be greatly missed by his sister Jane Sprague and family and his children Greg Palmer of Bristol, Virginia Cameron of Ferrisburgh, Carolyn Looby of Waltham, Mary O’Conner of Bristol, their families and many others.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 6th at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday June 7th at 11 a.m. at the Bristol Federated Church. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol on a later date. Thanks to all for their love and support at this time.
