Raymond Robert Ringer Sr.

Vergennes— Raymond Robert Ringer Sr., 86, died peacefully at Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury.

He was born October 19, 1919 in Vergennes, the son of Charles and Grace (LeBeau) Ringer.

Raymond was employed by Simmonds Precision as a Tool and Die Maker for over 40 years.

Raymond loved to fish, hunt, tell stories, work in his Machine Shop and explore the shores of Otter Creek.

He was a member of St Peter’s Parish in Vergennes. Raymond served in the U S Army as S Sgt in the Pacific Theater during WW II and was a member of the Vergennes American Legion Post #14. He was a former member of the Vergennes Fire Department.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 59 years Alice (Wallace) Ringer, two sons Raymond Ringer Jr. his wife Sandy of Jacksonville, FL. David and his wife Mary of Ferrisburgh, his two granddaughters Dawn Johnson and Lori Walker of Hinesville, Georgia, four great grandchildren, brother Vincent of PA. several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers Barney, Fred, Theodore and two sisters Blanch and Eleanor.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Mar. 30 at St. Peter’s Church in Vergennes. Interment was in Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes. Contributions may be made to the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad, Vergennes 05491.

George Leonard LeBeau

Vergennes— George Leonard LeBeau, 71, died unexpectedly Monday, March 27, 2006 in Vergennes.

Born in Vergennes on September 8, 1934 the son of Leonard and Florence (Bushey) LeBeau. He grew up in the Bristol and Vergennes areas, attending school in both communities.

He was a First Class Scout in Vergennes Troop 39, and a Varsity Basketball player at Vergennes High School. George was a member of the US Navy Reserve and left high school to enter active duty during the Korean Conflict. He left the navy in 1954 as an Aviation Tech 3rd class. He graduated Vergennes High School in 1955.

George worked for Simmonds Precision and General Dynamics before attending Vermont Technical College, where he graduated from the electrical engineering program in 1966. he began a co-op program with IBM in Essex Jct., where he worked until his retirement in 1993.

George was active member of the Vergennes Community. An avid sportsman who took much game over the years, he was a member of the Otter Creek Fish and Game Club, where he was a competitive shooter. He was also an avid golfer and played at Basin Harbor Country Club and throughout the state.

George spent a number of years as a troop committee member for the Vergennes Boy Scout Troop and was repeatedly elected as a member of the Vergennes – Panton Water District. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and the North American Hunting Club. George was recently recognized for 50 years of continuous membership to American Legion Post 14 in Vergennes.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years Lucille Mortineau LeBeau, his sister Joyce Adams, his sons Mark and Lance and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his sister Shirley.

A  Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on  April 1 at St Peter’s Church in Vergennes.

Leah (Palmer) Ball

North Ferrisburgh— Leah (Palmer) Ball 92 died Tuesday March 28, 2006 at Helen Porter Health & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

She was born July 25, 1913 in West Rutland the daughter of Carroll and Katherine (Beers) Palmer.

She went to school at Baptist Corners in Charlotte, and then she married Donald Ball in 1933 and he predeceased her February 15, 1980. Leah liked to do quilting, spend time with her family and her grandchildren. Also, she was a member of North Ferrisburgh Methodist Church and Home Den.

Leah is survived by four children Marvin Ball of North Ferrisburgh, Maurice Ball of Maine, Calvin Ball of Vergennes, and Kathleen Palmer of Vergennes, a grandson Patrick Ball and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son Michael Ball, grandson Corby Palmer, two sisters and two brothers.

The family would like to thank everyone at Helen Porter Health & Rehabilitation Center for the good care they provided.

Funeral services were held March 31st at North Ferrisburgh Methodist Church. Contributions may be made to Helen Porter Health & Rehabilitation Center South St. Middlebury, VT 05753.

Wilma (Wood) Stanilonis

Addison—Wilma (Wood) Stanilonis, 93 died Friday March 31, 2006 at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

She was born November 30, 1912 in Addison the daughter of Frank G. and Eva (Smith) Wood.

She attended schools in Addison and Vergennes and graduated from Vergennes High School in 1930. Also, Wilma was a captain of the girl's basketball team for three years. Then she attended Burlington Business College and graduated in 1932. She married her husband Philip F. Stanilonis in 1939 and he predeceased her on August 18, 2001. She owned and operated Woods Auto Supply 101 Main St. in Vergennes for thirty four years. Wilma was a member of Vergennes Congregational Church.

Wilma is survived by her son, Paul and his wife Margaret Stanilonis of Ferrisburgh; three grandchildren David Stanilonis of Ferrisburgh; Susan Lepple and her husband Andrew of Hinesburg; Daniel Stanilonis of Seattle, Washington, a great granddaughter Amelie Lepple. Predeceased by a sister Lucille Wood.

Funeral services will be held at Vergennes Congregational Church and time and date will be announced at a later time. Contributions may be made to Vergennes Area Rescue Squad PO Box 11 Vergennes, VT or Addison County Home Health & Hospice Route 7 Middlebury, VT. Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes will be in charge of arrangements.
