    The Vergennes Commodore Boys played in their first play-off game at home against the Milton Yellow Jackets. Both teams played tough in the first quarter, keeping the score close. The quarter ended 18-15, Commodores. In the second quarter, Vergennes was able to keep, and increase their slight lead. But Milton was not about to be shut down. The half ended with a score of 36-27, Vergennes.

The third quarter followed the same pattern as the first half.  Milton was able to threaten the Commodores lead. The score at the end of the third was 50-45, Vergennes. In the fourth quarter, the Commodore boys sealed their first play-off victory. It was a fight until the very end. The game ended with a score of 63-49, Vergennes.

High scorer for the Yellow Jackets was junior Brian Phelps with 21 points. Along side him was fellow Yellow Jacket junior, Stuart Bell with 15 points. For the Commodores, it was senior Judd Evarts that made the top of the list, with 29 points. Fellow senior Josh Darragh followed with 14 points.

The Vergennes girls played the Lamoille Lancers in the Division II semi-finals on Thursday. In the first quarter, both teams stayed close. The Lancers came out strong and had a 7-2 lead at one point in the first quarter. But, Vergennes stepped it up and ended the quarter ahead, 8-7. In the second quarter, Vergennes kept the pressure on and continued to score. But the Lamoille defense was tough, and kept the Commodores to 9 points. At the end of the half, the score was 17-13, Commodores.

In the third, Vergennes struggled against the Lamoille defense. The Lancers held them to only 2 points. During this quarter, Lamoille was able to tie the game. The third ended 19-19. The game was tight until the very end. During the fourth quarter, Commodore senior Jessica Jaggars played hard, scoring 6 points. One of those shots was with one minute on the clock. Jaggars gave the Commodores a one point lead, 27-26. With 30 seconds in the game, Jaggars was fouled, and hit both foul shots to help secure the win for the Commodores. Fellow Senior Meghan Greenhaus sealed the victory with another foul shot, increasing the lead to 4 points.

The final score for the game was 30-26, Vergennes. High scorer for Vergennes was Jessica Jaggars, with 14 points. For the Lancers, it was Freshman Rachel Wellman with 9 points.
