Painting With A Purpose

At least ten to twelve times a month, traveling artist Jackie Rivers packs up her paints and her supplies and goes to a location somewhere in the state. It might be a school, a not-for-profit, private home, business or civic organization.  Upon arriving she sets up her tables, all her supplies and proceeds to share with the paying guests a foray into art with purpose. People who have never painted come as well as artists. The event sends each participant home with a finished original product and at the same time benefits some local group, charitable organization or community project. Most importantly, the painting and sipping is a lot of fun and brings together people from all walks of life. Using a projection screen and a lot of fun examples, Rivers models each step of the art work from the front and comes to each person to help support them as they create on slate, canvas, Terra Cotta Flower pots, Maple Sap Buckets or a host of other possible products.
Rivers started her painting career at the age of twelve and remembers selling paintings at her parent’s business and creating original works upon request. “I love the Paint N Sip model,” explains Rivers, “because it’s based on social time. It allows people to try painting for the first time or as a veteran and everyone goes home with a finished product. Coming up with the image or plan for the product starts with the person hosting the event. If they want a cow, I will paint the original image and have it ready to model at the event. Pinterest has been a great source of ideas and right now painting on Maple Sap Buckets has been a favorite thing to paint on. I love getting feedback from my groups and the comment I get the most of the time is that they love having fun and being with others to create their own work of art.”
Working with a minimum of ten to seventy-five people with sound and projection, Rivers’ fundraisers are portable and can go anywhere to meet the group. Thankful to have such a supportive family who always helps out with the larger events, Rivers wishes she had started these project years ago. “It is a perfect fit for me,” shared the Paint N Sip artist. “I get to socialize, paint with friends, family and new people, sip a little, fundraise for different causes and just have fun with people.” If your organization is looking for a way to raise funds and have a great deal of fun at the same time, reach out to Jackie Rivers at (802) 349-9315 or check out her website www.paintwithjackie.com
