On Saturday, February 17, the Vergennes Lions Club held it’s annual Food from the Heart Food Drive in Bristol and Vergennes to benefit the St. Ambrose Food Shelf and the Vergennes Community Food Shelf.  Through the cooperation of the Champlain Discount Food Store in Vergennes and the Shaw Supermarkets in both communities, 74 boxes of food and $363.50 in cash were collected. Chairperson, Lion Harry Curth, gave special thanks to the Bristol Shaw’s manager, Randy Thompson, who had collected 8 large boxes before the Lions members arrived at 10 a.m.  He also thanked Long Trail on the Falls Physical Therapy in Vergennes for collecting 4 boxes of food.  In all, over 2700 pounds of food was collected.  Lion Curth also wished to thank Boy Scout Troop 539 for their help the past several years, as without their help the drive would not have been as successful.  The biggest thanks go to the community members in the Bristol-Vergennes areas for their generosity in helping provide food for those in need.
