Walking in the doors of Middlebury’s newest business located at 1396 Route 7 South is a mix of new and old. While the business is new the smiling faces of Amy and Donnie Sweet and daughter Alex are welcoming and already a fixture in the local food eateries. Amy Sweet always wanted to do something on her own and felt 2018 was the time to branch out and take her twenty-five plus years in the business of making food and turn it into her own place and destination for local people and visitors alike.
With a menu that boasts a wide variety of tasty sandwiches, what makes Seven South Sandwich Company such a delightful surprise is their inclusion of daily home-made soups, a Sweet & Spicy Spinach Salad that is to die for and hot foods that change daily including Shepard’s Pie and Italian Days where pasta and sauces reign supreme. This reporter delightedly tested out an Ethan’s Grilled Sandwich with cheese, bacon and artisan bread and could not get enough of the warm delight. Amy Sweet was previously at Green Peppers for twenty-five years and knows most of her community by name and can even recall favorite foods and flavors. With a soft opening on December 27-30th and the first formal day of business January 2, 2018, Amy, Donnie and Alex are on hand 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Monday- Saturday and can also take your order if you call (802) 388-3354.When asked to share what customers are already asking for to be included every day, Amy smiled and shared that the home-made Corn Chowder was a hit and selling to many happy customers wanting to enjoy lunch and fight off the Arctic chill that is in Addison County this week. So, whether your New Year’s resolution includes eating healthier or you simply want some good old-fashioned comfort food, 7 South Sandwich Company is the place to stop. The website 7 South Sandwich Company will be up later this week with a complete menu but for now consider a breakfast sandwich, baked goods, chef salad, spinach salad with fresh fruit, Alex’s veggie sandwich, a traditional turkey club, a Philly Cheesesteak or the JB Sandwich. Simply come in and check out the menu or ask for your own custom creation and make a mouthwatering masterpiece with your bread, meat, cheese, veggies and toppings. The location is handy, the prices great, the food marvelous and the welcome genuine and friendly. Come by. Amy, Donnie and Alex are waiting to see you and set you up for a sandwich, meal or even platters if you have that big gathering coming up at your house.
