Elizabeth Clodgo LaFoy

Elizabeth Clodgo LaFoy, 79, passed away July 12, 2017 at Ringer's Home Care
in Vergennes. Born August 1st, 1937, Betty was the daughter of Alfred and Blanche
Clodgo.
Betty was a devoted wife to the late Jerry. Their marriage of forty-plus years was
one filled with love and adventure.
She was a dedicated mother to Jay, Nancy and
Suzy. She was a treasured in-law to Jennifer, Jim,
Bob and Donna. Her grandchildren Chris,
Kimberly, Alexandra, Patrick and Rachael adored
her, as did her grandchildren's spouses, Ryan and
Jermaine.
Betty was happiest with a house full of her
family. Her Bristol home was filled with the smell
of her cooking and the laughter of her grandkids.
Her front porch was the best seat for the Fourth
of July Parade, and her backyard was the perfect
venue for countless celebrations.
Betty and Jerry were avid travelers. With an
RV packed with the necessities, they visited their
favorite places including Washington D. C.,
Atlantic City, and Pennsylvania. The RV could also be found in their favorite
campgrounds, with waterlogged grandkids slamming the screen door to the dismay
of both neighbors and grandparents alike.
Sunday night was family dinner night. Betty's table was covered with her famous
cooking and surrounded by her loved ones. Weather permitting, a short walk to the
Village Creeme Stand would leave the kids happy and covered in rainbow sprinkles.
Betty made the best Christmas cookies. Every winter her kitchen would be filled
with grandkids covered in flour and frosting, waiting to taste the first batch of their
creations. Jerry waited patiently for the kids to present him with their best santa
cookie.
Her career spanned many industries including Simmonds Precision and Vermont
Magazine. After retiring, she dedicated her time to her family and volunteering.
She helped raise money for Cystic Fibrosis and the St. Jude's Childrens Hospital,
and helped organize meals for the Vergennes Seniors Program with her best friend
June Olson.
Betty's favorite hobby was cross-stitching prize-winning quilts she gifted to her
family and donated to charities. Her home was adorned with puzzles, books, and
movies. Her daily card games provided precious memories for her closest friends.
Keeping up with her dearest of traditions, this year Betty spent the Fourth of
July with her family and friends at the lake. With the sound of kids splashing and
the scent of a cookout, Betty spent the afternoon telling stories, making jokes, and
ensuring everyone had enough to eat.
Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the following individuals
and groups for their incredible support. Caregivers Peggy Nolan and Karla
Huizenga, whose homemade chocolate chip cookies always put a smile on her face.
The caring and attentive Lana Delorme, Jane Kearns, and Sara Audet from Addison
County Home Health and Hospice and all of the hospice volunteers that ensured
Betty could stay in her home as long as possible. Finally, Jim and Marlene Ringer
and their staff from Ringer's Home Care for their dedicated and compassionate
service.
Betty, the wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend will be deeply
missed.
