News has recently reached Addison County Post 7823 in Middlebury that they have been selected to receive the National Outstanding Community Service Post of the Year for the State of Vermont.  This honor reflects the commitment of the Post to the mission of the VFW.  The Veterans of Foreign Wars membership is comprised of combat theater veterans who have served the United States of America on foreign soil in times of war.  The 6500 VFW posts nationwide endeavor to serve the needs of these veterans  -- and all veterans -- to ensure that they are respected for their service and recognized for their sacrifice.  In addition, the VFW provides services and programs to veteran's families and communities.  VFW Post 7823 has excelled in this area and is delighted to receive this prestigious honor, which was made possible by the tireless efforts of all of members of the VFW and the VFW Auxiliary and its many dedicated volunteers.
Also, in addition to the above honor, VFW Post 7823 Commander Kenley Hallock and Quartermaster Bub Crosby were named State of Vermont All Star Commander and All Star Quartermaster, respectively.  This honor is based on the success and performance of the Post.  Kenley has been at helm of the Post over the past few years of challenging transition and guided the Post to improve it's membership enrollment, veterans programming, and community service connections.  Bub has worked alongside to maintain the smooth flow of financial and general building details.  Both men are delighted with the receiving and celebration of this honor as a reflection of their -- and everyone's -- commitment to veterans and community.
The VFW hall is available for hire to host community events such as parties, wedding and special gathering.  The post is now booking for the Summer and Fall season, and welcomes people to stop by and see if the facility can meet the needs of your event.
Located on Exchange St. in Middlebury, the Post continues to do what is does best -- serving the needs of veterans and raising awareness of the needs of veterans.  Well done, Post 7983 and all the folks involved in this endeavor.
