Jen and Adam Shafer welcome you to SHAFER’S a new Market and Deli in Middlebury.

The enthusiasm is exciting. Adam and Jen Shafer are in the midst of a new adventure and we all stand to benefit from it; here's how.  The Shafer's who were looking for a market and deli to own and operate, now have purchased the established business they were looking for in one of Middlebury's most productive and iconic locations. Introducing SHAFER’S Market and Deli formerly Sama's Cafe at 54 College Street here in Middlebury right across from the newly designed green space that formerly housed the Middlebury Town Offices.     “We're looking forward to meeting regular and new customers and we are excited to be here in this location,” Jen Shafer told us during a brief break in her busy day this past week.  Her husband Adam was working with suppliers and customers nearby. The new market and deli under their ownership will combine many of the traditional favorites served at this popular eatery and some new additions as well.
There will continue to be a great wood-fired pizza menu and the traditional ice cream and soft serve will continue both inside and at the sidewalk window.  Jen and Adam will also be looking to add groceries and convenience items to the inventory including a nice selection of wines and beers.
Getting to know their customers is very important to the Shafer’s and their entire family will be involved in the day to day operation of the business.  Expect to meet Colby, Logan and Abigayle who are each planning to make you feel right at home.  Even nineteen-month-old Abel is expected to play a role and looking forward to it.  Jen and Adam are also expecting twins in September, just in time for back to school.
The Shafer’s have done their homework with research and personal inquiries about past businesses that have found success at this popular Middlebury business location.  Now they can plan from the best of success from the past.  More Italian favorites are expected to evolve within the Shafer’s menu.  Rosemary Fettuccine for example, will be a featured item in the near future.
Most importantly Adam and Jen and their family want folks to stop by and enjoy the family atmosphere of their new business.  Shafer’s “where you can take it home or eat it here.”  The business is now open seven days a week and looking forward to serving their customers from 6 a.m. till 10 p.m. daily once final schedules are set.
