Walter Noel Sears

CORNWALL: Walter Noel Sears, age 86, died April 27, 2017, at Porter Hospital in Middlebury, surrounded by his family. Walter was born in Middlebury on May 14, 1930. He was the son of William and Florence (Thompson) Sears. Growing up in Middlebury, Walter received his early education there and was graduated from Middlebury High School, class of 1948. While attending high school, he worked at Manley Marshall Hardware Store and continued there following graduation. In 1950 Walter began his United States Postal Service career. He was a street delivery postman for 22 years and a rural route carrier for 20 years. After 42 years of service, he retired in 1992.
    Following his retirement Walter worked with John Sanderson in Middlebury until 2005. Then for the next several years he worked with Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Middlebury Order #642 and belonged to Middlebury American Legion Post #27.
    Walter is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Clifford) Sears of Cornwall, his daughter-in-law; Susan Sears, and five grandchildren; Alexandra Sears, Megan Sears, Peter Morrison, Ian Ketcham and Dallas Ketcham as well as several nieces and nephews. Walter also leaves behind stepsons Eric Paquette and Mike Paquette and his wife Patrice. He was predeceased by his first wife, Charlotte (Ringey) Sears, his daughter Deborah, his son David, and a grandson Nathaniel, five brothers; James, Leon, John, Ernest and Lloyd and two sisters; Beatrice and Ellen.
    The Memorial Mass in celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 11am at St. Mary’s Church of the Assumption in Middlebury,
    The graveside committal service and burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cornwall.
    Memorial gifts in Walter’s honor may be sent to; ARCH (Addison Respite Care Home) PO Box 953; Middlebury, Vermont 05753.
    Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

 

SHEILA JEAN BENOIT

SHELBURNE: Sheila Jean (Emerson) Benoit, 51, formerly of Vergennes, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at her home in Shelburne, VT.
She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Norma Jean (Moffit) Emerson in Barre on October 26, 1965. She is survived by her partner Craig Thompson, daughters Maria Benoit of Vergennes and Kristina Benoit of North Ferrisburgh, and brothers Paul and Bruce Emerson of Vergennes.
