The Seth Warner-Rhoda Farrand Chapter of the DAR recently held a luncheon at the American Legion Post #14 in Vergennes celebrating the men and women representing all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces who served in the Vietnam War by passing out Valentines and sharing both a meal and a prayer. “This is the third year we have sponsored this gathering,” shared DAR event organizer Joy Minns. “It brings together more than just military members as a family. It is really great to see their families here with them.” As chatter commenced following the meal it was easy to see that service is for many a family matter. Several shared that their nieces, nephews and in some cases grandchildren serve. While the atmosphere was fun and festive, there was an underlying message of gratitude for the service and commitment of those who serve and the families who stay the course while their loved ones are away.
