Joanne Cousino simply does not believe in throwing away items that can be made into crafts. Whether it is re-purposing wine bottles as decorative lights, safe and clean incense burners or creating jewelry, stained glass windows or gem trees, she is hard at work turning items into art and having fun along the way. Joanne found herself drawn into the world of crafts during a winter in Florida in 2006-2007 following a longtime career in childcare. It seemed that everything she tried was fun and a new passion was born.
Joanne works out of her home on 338-2 Hunt Road in New Haven.  JoCou Crafts is more than a shop; it is a place to come and learn and explore just how much fun creating can be and offers classes for kids, parents, or groups of friends that start at your level and take you to the next one.  “I often begin my classes with the creation of a terrarium,” shared Joanne. “I like people to leave the very first class and take something home with them that they have made.” While her products can be found around the area, Joanne would like people to check her out on Facebook and if you have a wish you would like a class in, call her at (802)-453-4228. Whether it is glass, clay, jewelry or wine bottles, you will see how to repurpose, reuse and at the same time create beautiful works of art. And for the parents looking for a unique and special twist on a child’s birthday party, consider going to JoCou Craft Studio and making something of beauty that will go home and last far beyond the plastic toy or tokens in an arcade. Joanne also does custom pieces for people and will help you create a memorable special gift for weddings, anniversaries or celebrations of all sizes. Check her out on Facebook and Etsy.com. Just search for “JoCou” and see how much fun crafting and creating can be.
