Michael Burns and Michelle Matot boil maple sap on Tuesday March 15th 2016 at their sugar house on the Shoreham Whiting Road.  Michael, Michelle and their children Taylor, Tanner and Taryn have every reason to be proud of their operation.  The sweet smell of success begins with plenty of hard work and planning.  The business property has been in the family for over 100-years.  What was once an idyllic Vermont camp in the woods is now a homestead complete with an immaculately maintained modern wood fired sugaring operation.  Michael and Michelle explained that they are currently working with 3700 taps and producing 1400 gallons of maple syrup in a good year.  “We hope that the weather will cooperate,” Michael explained as he loaded firewood into the firebox of the evaporator.  The business has customers locally and globally.  A mellow, savory smell of maple bubbling above the flames filled the sugarhouse with an aroma that is as authentic as a Vermont spring day can get.  Triple T is a beautiful setting so much so that it attracted Vermont artist Peter Huntoon to paint the scene in recent years. If you would like to meet the owners, purchase some incredibly delicious locally harvested and produced maple syrup and visit their operation, give them a call at 1-802-897-2775 or visit them on the web at tripletmapleworks.com.  Our visit was also enhanced by Flynnie, the family dog, who can be both a greeter and tour guide.  “We started with a back yard bucket operation five years ago,” Michelle explained.  The couple has full time jobs and still the sugaring operation demands all-year attention.  They are both busy, but happy Vermonters.
