Krystal Sweeney and Andrea Warren have been line dancing for a total of twenty eight years between the pair. Sweeney was previously part of “Country Pleasure Dancing” alongside Keith and Annie Craig and Warren for about six years in New York State. Both recognized the need and interest in the Champlain Valley to bring line dancing back and after talking to a lot of people and researching decided to open line dancing to the community at the New Haven Town Hall. While the pair expected a “fair turn out” they were blown away by the close to 150 people of all ages that showed up. “Line dancing is appealing to so many because it is a source of exercise that is fun and easy to learn,”commented Sweeney. “It does not require a partner and is a way to meet new people in the community.”
Sweeney and Warren are currently offering classes at New Haven Town Hall from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday nights and charge $5.00 per person with children ten and under free. They also offer punch cards for $25.00 for six classes. People of all ages and abilities are welcome and encouraged to attend. Sweeney suggests that people wear comfortable clothing that is easy to dance in and appropriate for a community event. Cowboy boots are recommended but not required. “We would like to see everyone who joins us for dancing to have a great time and to make new friends,” expressed Warren. “This is a community event open for people of all ages. Lessons start at a beginner’s level and will progress over time. No matter what level the dance is, each dance is broken down into separate parts for the group to learn. Every five weeks we will have an open dance to review the dances we have learned throughout the month.”

Better yet, come on over to New Haven Town Hall on Saturday nights and be prepared to laugh, sweat, dance and have a great deal of fun. “We are so excited to bring the community together through line dancing,” concluded Sweeney. “We are looking forward to a successful and fun filled year to come.” The Valley Voice salutes Addison County Line Dancers and thinks it is fitting that the sounds of music, laughter and moving feet will again fill the New Haven Town Hall, where over the year card parties, dances and many community gatherings are held. Community is one of the many things that make living in Addison County so special.
