Dale M. Piper

Dale M. Piper 71, passed away after a long illness Friday evening November 20, 2015 at her residence in Middlebury with her family by her side.
Born June 20, 1944 in Queens, NY, Dale was the daughter of Charles and Hazel (Winter) Muller.
  Dale was a graduate of Island Trees High School, Levittown, NY, class of 1961. She furthered her education, receiving a B.A. degree from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY and a Master’s degree from Middlebury College.
   She married David M. Piper on February 1, 1972 and they lived in Cornwall before finally settling in Middlebury.
   Dale worked for thirty years as the office manager for the State of Vermont Office of Employment and Training in Middlebury. She had previously taught French in Bellows Falls, VT.
   She enjoyed quilting, and a wide variety of crafts. Her glasses were always on top of her head or perched on her nose as she moved between sewing, reading, and canning her jams, jellies, and relish. Dale loved all her many pets, babying dogs, cats and horses with great joy. She enjoyed horseback riding and had great fun competing in the garden tractor pulls at Field Days.
   Dale is survived by her husband David Piper of Middlebury, son George W. Piper of Bristol and daughter Amanda Sayers of Middlebury, also by her granddaughter Julia Catherine Piper and several cousins.
   She was predeceased by her parents , her grandson Seamus in 2012 and granddaughter Laura.
   Visiting hours were held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home in Middlebury. There will be no funeral services.
   Memorial contributions may be made to the Addison County Home Health and Hospice at P.O. Box 754, Middlebury, VT 05753
   Arrangements are under the direction of the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home.
