As the spring weather finally picks up, so does the foot traffic on Vergennes' Main Street. This week, people enjoying the sunshine can visit Linda's Apparel during their tenth anniversary celebration.
In the old Fishman's Department store building, Linda Cook opened her own clothing store on April 2nd, 2005. Previous to starting Linda's she worked at Classic Stitching and Fishman's.
“ I always wanted to own my own store,” Linda  said “I wanted to be my own boss.”
Growing up in Crown Point, the small town feel of Vergennes is familiar. Linda knows the people of the community, greeting most customers by name. She has also been involved in the community by being on the board of the Vergennes Partnership and the Vergennes Chamber of Commerce board before it was absorbed into the Addison County Chamber of Commerce.
Linda has wanted to be involved in fashion since the 8th grade. After graduating from Crown Point she attended Champlain College for Fashion Merchandising. Cook began her career at Fishman's in 1982, and has been a Vergennes fashion staple ever since.
Linda's tenth anniversary will show off the new products available. Some of the older products have made way for a refreshing new selection.
Three years ago Linda added a selection of men's clothing to the store. The Men's Corner carries popular brand such as Carhartt, Columbia and Woolrich.
I love my job,” Linda said, “After 30 years, it's still my passion. There is nothing I would rather be doing.”
