Eugene George Chamberland

WALTHAM: Eugene George Chamberland, age 54, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at his home in Waltham.
    Mr. Chamberland was born in Middlebury on October 2, 1960. He was the son of Ernest and Lucile (Kilburn) Chamberland, Jr. He grew up in Brandon where he received his early education and was graduated from Otter Valley Union High School, class of 1978. He had worked in the family business: Chamberland’s Sporting Goods: for several years. He later worked at Omya in Florence as a machine operator. More recently he had been employed seasonally at several area businesses. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
    Surviving is his brother; Albert W. Chamberland of Coventry, RI and his sister; Dale M. Chamberland of Missoula, Montana. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Maria Stone.
    The graveside committal service and burial will take place, on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 1 PM, in the family lot, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon. Family and friends will share in the ceremony.
    Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in his memory to; The Vermont Lung Association, 372 Hurricane Lane, Suite 101, Williston, VT 05495 or the Brandon Area Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 232, Brandon, VT 05733.
    Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Catherine Leona Kean

RUTLAND TOWN, VT: Catherine Leona Kean, age 82, died Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
    Mrs. Kean was born in Beacon Falls, CT on March 20, 1932. She was the daughter of John and Mary (Schwartz) Yablonski. She grew up in Beacon Falls where she received her early education in local schools. July 30, 1949 she married Robert Kean in Beacon Falls. They moved to Naugatuck and later made their home in Beacon Falls where she had worked at Uniroyal Corporation. She moved with her family to Shoreham in 1975 where she had worked at the Shoreham Apple Co-Op. She later was employed at C.P.C. in Middlebury for several years. She retired in 1993. Following the death of her husband; Robert; in May of 2003 she moved to Park Village in Brandon. She has made her home with her daughter; Karen Young, in Rutland Town, since 2009. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and visiting the casino. She and her late husband were avid tent campers.
    Surviving are 4 daughters; Linda A. Auger of Wolcott, CT, Patricia A. Sirica of Orwell, Cynthia L. Daley of Wolcott, CT and Karen L. Young of Rutland Town, 2 sons; Robert W. Kean, Jr, of Beacon Falls, CT and James W. Kean of Bomoseen, 2 sisters; Anna Lopes of Watertown, CT and Wiletta Bradshaw of Oakville, CT and a brother John Yablonski of Naugatuck, CT. 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins also survive her. She was also predeceased by a son; Gregory D. Kean and 3 brothers; Harry Zopko, Peter Yablonski and Joseph Yablonski, and 5 sisters; Elsie Duart, Julia Cross, Pauline Owenbe, Mary Kaminski and Frances Rivers, and 3 grandchildren; Patricia & Lisa Sirica and Jay Williams.
    The graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date, in East Shoreham Cemetery.
    Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; The Jay Williams Florida Fund, c/o Raymond Hathaway, Specialized Community Care, P.O. Box 478, East Middlebury, VT 05740.
    Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon, VT.
