Jeanette Cole Rowe

PITTSFORD: Jeanette Cole Rowe, age 80, died Monday, November 17, 2014, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
    Mrs. Rowe was born in Proctor on January 6, 1934. She was the daughter of Moses and Julia (Ladouceur) Desabrais. She grew up in Proctor and Salisbury where she received her early education and was a member of Middlebury High School class of 1952. October 6, 1951 she married Burton H. Cole. They made their home in Leicester on the Cole family farm, where she assisted her husband. Mr. Cole predeceased her on December 9, 1992. In her earlier years she had worked as a waitress Topps Restaurant in Middlebury and later at Van Raaulte Shirt Manufacturing Company. She worked several years as an aide at Brandon Training School and later for Dale Hutchins Commission Sales in Whiting. She had served the town of Leicester as Delinquent Tax Collector and was on the Zoning Board. June 26, 1999 she married Richard Rowe and made her home in Pittsford. Mr. Rowe predeceased her September 8, 2008. She had been a member and past president of the Pittsford Lions Club, a member of Court Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Daughters of America and had served as Vermont State Regent C.D.A. She was a past member of the Neshobe Sportsman’s Club. She enjoyed arts & crafts, sewing, her flower gardens and in earlier years snowmobiling and league bowling. She was a communicant at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon.
    Surviving are 7 sons; Burton D. Cole & his wife Beth of Leicester, Russell Moulton & his wife Sylvia of Lake Alfred, FL, Gary Rowe of Chittenden, Wayne Rowe, David Rowe, William Rowe and Bruce Rowe all of Pittsford, her daughter’s; Romona McNulty & her husband Ed of Lake Alfred, FL, Jean Shortsleeves of Virginia and Gail McGann of Bomoseen, 3 brothers; Lucien Desabrais and Roger Desabrais both of West Salisbury and Moses Desabrais of Middlebury. 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins also survive her. She was also predeceased by a brother; Norman Desabrais, 3 sisters; Rose Marie Wakefield, Lillian Desabrais and Mary Desabrais and 3 grandchildren; Zeke Moulton, Rusty Moulton and Sharon Moulton.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 2 PM, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon. The Rev. Ruel Tumangday will be the celebrant. A private graveside committal service and burial will follow, in the family lot, at Pine Hill Cemetery.

Wilfred Henry Niles

SUDBURY: Wilfred Henry Niles, age 92, died Sunday, November 16, 2016 at Rutland Health & Rehabilitation Center.
    Mr. Niles was born in DeKalb, NY on August 21, 1922. He was the son of William and Mary (Doty) Niles. He grew up in Rutland where he received his early education. He was a long time Sudbury/Brandon area resident. He had worked for over 28 years at the Brandon Training School in the boiler room. He was an avid hunter & fisherman. He loved his music and was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers. He had also played music at several area nursing homes.
    Surviving is his daughter; Dale Niles of Burlington and his son, Henry Niles of Nashville, TN, 3 step-daughters; Deborah Knight of Massachusetts, Naomi Waters of Ohio and Noma Brown of New York. 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by is wife Florence Niles and a twin sister at birth.
    The funeral service was held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
