Obituaries 11-18-14 Sandra Carol RixonBRANDON: Sandra Carol Rixon, age 72, died Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.Mrs. Rixon was born in Hartford, CT on December 21, 1941. She was the daughter of Carl and Esther (Pratt) Johnson. She grew up in Rocky Hill, CT where she received her early education and was graduated from Farmington, CT High School, class of 1958. Following graduation she had worked as a waitress at several various restaurants in the Avon, CT area. She came to Vermont in 1973 and had worked as a waitress at Royal’s Hearthside, The Fairmont, 121 West and the Artful Dodger. She later worked at McCullough’s Insurance, Kinney, Pike, Bell & Conner and retired from Nationwide Insurance all in Rutland. Her family was her life. Surviving is her husband Richard Rixon of Brandon; whom she married March 26, 1975 in Rutland, 2 sons; Alan Rixon and David Rixon both of Rutland and her grandchildren, Deron Rixon and Melissa Rixon and her K9 companion “Heidi”. Several nieces, nephews & cousins also survive. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister; Audrey Johnson. A private graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date, in the family lot at Goshen Community Cemetery. There are no public calling hours. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; The Rutland County Humane Society, 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05753 or to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 6520 North Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309-2130. Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
