Margaret “Nita” Gradziel

SUDBURY: Margaret “Nita” Gradziel, age 86, died peacefully, in her sleep surrounded by her family on October 21, 2014.
    She was born in Williston on July 31, 1928. She was the daughter of Graham and Margaret (Delebac) Lewis. She married Joseph Gradziel on December 3, 1948 in Ticonderoga, NY. They had a long happy life together for 54 years. Joe predeceased her on November 4, 2003. Margaret enjoyed working in her antique shop visiting and meeting her customers and chatting about her family. She also enjoyed helping her son David in the bait shop. She found enjoyment in many things in life, like baking, bingo, living at the lake and flowers. She loved the joy of music and would often break out into a song whenever the spirit moved her.
    Margaret is survived by her four sons; Robert Gradziel and his wife Irene of Poultney, John Gradziel and his wife Francine of Delanson, NY, Joseph Gradziel and his wife Barbara of Proctor and David Gradziel and his wife Marianne of Sudbury. 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and cousins and her cat “Honey” also survive her. She was also predeceased by her brother Graham Lewis.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at 11 AM, at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Proctor. The Rev. Thomas Houle, pastor will be the celebrant. Following the mass the family will receive friends in the church hall for a time of fellowship & remembrance. A private graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date.

    Arrangements are under the direction of Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

 

Gustave Edwin Olson

ORWELL: Gustave Edwin Olson, age 73, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.
    Mr. Olson was born in Wildwood, New Jersey on December 8, 1940. He was the son of Gustave and Beatrice (Herd) Olson. He grew up in Wildwood where he received his early education and was graduated from Wildwood High School, class of 1959. In his earlier years he had worked as a mechanic in a local garage. He joined the staff at Atlantic Electric and worked the next 33 years retiring in 1988. He had been a member of the Wildwood Crest (NJ) Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years and had served as Chief for 13 years. He was a life member of the N.R.A. and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He belonged to the Loyal Order of The Moose and Duck’s Unlimited. He loved his boat and spending time on it with family and friends. He has been a Vermont resident since early 2013 moving here from Jasper, Georgia.
    Surviving is his wife; Betty Steele of Orwell; whom he married in Elgin Maryland on March 18, 2004, 1 son Greg Olson of Williamstown, NJ and a daughter Gayle Ludericz of Mays Landing, NJ, 2 step daughters; Michelle Witherbee of Leicester and Kathy Byrne of North Clarendon, 2 step-sons; Steven Pfenning of Prairie duChien, WI and Peter Pfenning of Kentucky, 2 sisters; Donna Baker of Cape May, NJ and Barbara Sawyer of Erma, NJ. 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by a step-son, Michael Pfenning.
    A private graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date in Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.
    Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in his memory to; Orwell First Response Squad, c/o Peter Ochs, 37 Needham Hill Road, Orwell, VT 05760.
    Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
