Edith  Caroleen (Smith) Kemp

New Haven: Edith  Caroleen (Smith) Kemp-84 of New Haven, VT., passed away at home on Wednesday September 3rd surrounded by her loving family.  She was born July 9th 1930 in New Haven, to the late Langdon T Smith and Caroleen Keese Smith.  She grew up on a family farm and on August 8th, 1948 she married Gerald G. Kemp.  They raised their Family in New Haven Vt.  Edith was a hard worker; she worked at various sewing companies.
    She is survived by her husband, Gerald G. Kemp of New Haven, Vt.  and her children,  Susan and John Stephenson of Bristol Rosie and John Hamel of New Haven Sandy and his partner Judy Kemp of New Haven  BJ and Jeff Carter of Middlebury Pam and Scott Farnsworth of New York and Mary Kemp and her partner Louis Paradis of Middlebury.  She is also survived by ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Edith is survived by one sibling, Charles Smith and his wife Ella Smith of New Haven. Sister in-laws Jean Smith of New Haven and Pat Smith of Bristol. 
    She was preceded in death by her sons, Jerry Kemp of North Carolina and Steven Kemp of Whiting Vermont a baby sister Betty Smith,  two brothers, Langdon Smith of New Haven and Marvin Smith of Monkton and a grandson Matthew Kemp, a very special cousin Phyllis O’Richardson. Edith loved to be around loved ones and she will be missed by so many and the emptiness in our hearts is only softened by knowing her pain is gone and she is with loved ones who will take care of her until we meet again. She will always remain in our hearts and prayers.

Norma Lee Young

BRANDON:  Norma Lee Young, age 67, died Friday, August 29, 2014, at the home of her son in Brandon.
    Ms: Young was born in Middlebury on November 14, 1946. She was the daughter of Robert and Virginia (Wimett) Dragon. She grew up in Ripton where she received her early education and had attended Middlebury Union High School. She traveled with her family to the U.S. Virgin Islands and lived for several years, returning to Littleton, NH in 1974. She came to Brandon in 1976. She had worked as an aide at Brandon Training School for several years. She had worked as a waitress for many years, at LaDuke’s in Brandon and later Rosie’s is Middlebury and more recently at Cattails in Brandon. She loved to go horseback riding and had showed horses at the Addison County Field Days.
    Surviving are 7 son’s; David W. Young, Jr of Pittsford, Tracey S. Young of Kentucky, Mark R. Young of Brandon, Caleb E. Young of New York, Jeremy J. Young of Brandon, Joshua Preseau of Brandon and Jason Preseau of Benson and a daughter, Kristin Preseau of Brandon, 1 brother; Clifton A. Dragon of East Middlebury and a sister Janice Munson of Middlebury and her best friend; Ronnie Preseau of Orwell. 17 Grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many nieces, nephews & cousins also survive her. She was predeceased by a brother; Robert E. “Bucky” Dragon and 3 sisters; Shirlene Malzac, Marjorie Clark and Barbara Barrows.
    The memorial service “In Celebration of Her Life” was held on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
    Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; Spring Hill Horse Rescue, 175 Middle Road, Clarendon, VT 05759.
    Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
