Randall (Barney) Hallett

BRANDON: Randall (Barney) Hallett, age 83, passed away peacefully August 2, 2014 at Our House on Jackson Avenue in Rutland.
    Mr. Hallett was born, in Brandon on May 20, 1931. He was the son of Fred and Nellie (Davis) Hallett. He grew up in Brandon where he received his early education and had attended Brandon High School. On November 2, 1952 he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Bishop; she predeceased him on April 8, 2011. He was a veteran of the United States Army and had served during and in the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Brandon where he began his own Paint and Drywall business, built his house and started his family. He dearly cared for his hometown and chose to remain in Brandon until this past year, when he then moved to “Our House” under the loving care of the Jackson Avenue staff.
    Barney will be remembered for his humble zest for life. He enjoyed the beauty of nature as well as hunting, fishing, gardening and his pets. He enjoyed any sports in which his children or grandchildren were involved. With an ear for music, he played guitar, sang, and listened to old country tunes. Politics and current events were interesting conversation. But, with his many interests, his greatest love was for his family and friends.
    He is survived by his cherished sister Dorothy Wetmore of Brandon, his children; Leigh Pfenning & his wife Leisa of Greenville, SC, Lynn Ryan & her husband Reg of Proctor, Rita Hallett & Ron Ettori of Granville, NY, Julie Cameron & her husband Bernie of Goldbar, WA, Randie Dwyer & her husband Dan of Warren, RI, Russ Hallett & his wife Tammy of Brandon, and Troy Hallett & his wife Cindy of Brandon. 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and treasured friends, also survive him. In addition to his wife he was also predeceased by his parents, his brother Russell Hallett, his sister Marion Parker and a grandson, Chad Mullin.
    The funeral service were held on Friday, August 8, 2014, at The Brandon Congregational Church. The Rev. Richard White, pastor officiated. The graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, followed in the family lot, at Pine Hill Cemetery.

    Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
