David Robert Murray

Daytona Beach, FL/Middlebury.-David Robert Murray, 66, of Daytona Beach FL., passed away on February 11th, 2014. David served in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer with most of his military career being  spent  Berlin, Germany. He came home in 1967 and worked as a carpenter most of his life. In his later years he retired to his home in Florida and enjoyed life, going to the beach and relaxing in the Florida sunshine.
He is survived by his wife Paula Lafontaine-Murray, his children Joshua and Justin of Battle Creek, Michigan and his step-daughter, Heather Perkins of Bennington VT; His parents Kenneth Robert Murray and Hazel M. Murray of E. Middlebury. He also leaves four brothers, Scott of Middlebury;  Robert and his wife Dorie of Rutland;  Mark and his wife Patty of E. Middlebury and Richard of Middlebury. He also leaves several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In his final hours his friend, Honor Hawk of Goshen, VT performed a Mohawk Passover Prayer to help guide his spirit. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, his wife asks that you consider donating to the disabled veterans. PO Box 188 Middlebury, VT 05753.

Simone B. Malzac

Middlebury - Simone B. Malzac, 101, died Thursday evening February 13, 2014 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born November 2, 1912 in Quebec, Canada the daughter of the late Henri and Leonie (Lemieux) Bolduc.
Simone married Roch Mizeal Malzac in August of 1932 in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Orwell.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Middlebury and was a Licensed Practical Nurse, primarily at Porter Hospital for many years.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking and taking care of her large, extended family.  She was truly the matriarch for the Bolduc, Malzac and Leggett families throughout her life.  She also treasured her faith and was a role model and inspiration to all who knew her.
Survivors are her daughter, Janet Leggett of Middlebury, her son Roch Richard Malzac and wife Elizabeth, of Torrington, CT, her sister Irene Boise of New Haven and her brother Dennis Bolduc of Bridport; her grandchildren, Carolyn Perine (Ken), Robert Leggett (Joanne), Jane Roy(Eugene), David Leggett (Sue), all of Middlebury,  Judy Whitney (Tim-Chinook MT), Deborah Farr (Rick-Valrico FL), William Malzac (Marty-Waco TX), Shelly Curtsinger (Mike-Bluff Dale TX), Michael Malzac (Leona-Carrollton TX), Sam Malzac (Richardson TX) and Emily Bibb (Rick-Arlington TX), by her twenty- eight great-grandchildren and her twenty-five great- great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Roch Malzac who died in 1958 and by her sisters, Alice Boise, Marcienne Malzac, Gabrielle Bailey and Jean Huestis, and by her brothers, Ben and Gerald Bolduc.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday February 21, 2014 at 11 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Middlebury with the Rev. William Beaudin as celebrant.
There will be no visiting hours.
Burial will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s School at 86 Shannon Street, Middlebury or to Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center at 30 Porter Drive, Middlebury.  The family would like to thank the staff at Addison County Home Health and at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for the exemplary care given to Simone, adding greatly to her quality of life.
