Reaching for dreams is often a scary thing, but for Addison County Fashion Designer Laura Hastings Thapthimkuna it was a plan from the start. After graduating from VUHS in 2002, Laura moved to Chicago to attend college and to create her own fashion line. Look for her on the new Styled to Rock Show on BRAVO on Friday nights!

On Friday, November 8th those Vermonters tuning in to watch Rihanna’s Styled to Rock on the BRAVO network will see a familiar face. Premiering on Friday, November 8th at 8 p.m., the competition will feature twelve talented designers selected out of a talented pool who applied to be on the show. In its first season, the show brings to television twelve designers handpicked by Rihanna to design each week for mega-stars.  The show will pit designer against designer and offer a $ 100,000 cash prize as well as a fashion feature in Glamour Magazine. The winner will also become a member of Rihanna’s own design team.  The judging panels scoring the designer’s fashions include Mel Ottenberg, who is Rihanna’s own stylist, Super Model Erin Wasson, and rapper Pharrell Williams.
Former VUHS graduate (2002) Laura Hastings Thapthimkuna is one of those lucky designers the show will challenge. The daughter of Bill and MaryAnn Hastings of Addison, Laura attended the International Academy of Design and Technology and lives and works in the Chicago area. Featuring work from her own Taka Taka Design Company, Laura is excited for the chance to compete in a national venue.  So, set your DVR to record and follow along as an Addison County resident takes her place on the national stage, competing with other top new designers.
