Read the following menu and prepare for a mouthwatering meal of localvore. Now proceed to your calendars and make plans for the opening day of Field Days on August 6th and to attend the 25th Annual Vermont Products Dinner brought to you by some of the freshest produce and the generosity of many local merchants and one very determined parent group with lofty fundraising goals.  This group is determined to see that football is again the name of the game for sixteen football players from Vergennes who play on the Mount Abe Team.

Sponsored by the Friends of Vergennes Football, Fundraising Coordinator Lisa Rowell shared that this dinner helps the group to reach its goals, “which this year it is looking like sixteen football players from Vergennes, lots of parent involvement as we need to raise $17 thousand per year to play between a fee to Mt Abe to help cover costs such as coaching, referees, equipment, uniforms, field maintenance and bussing VUHS kids to Mt Abe each day for practice.”
Tickets will be available at the Middlebury Inn, Martin’s Hardware in Bristol (only) and Classic Stitching in Vergennes or by calling the Field Days office at 545-2557. “This is the 25th Annual Vermont Products Dinner and many people come back year after year as it is a great deal for $10.00,” concluded Rowell. “All the food is all fresh, local and served by friends and neighbors who produced it, along with players and their parents from the football team, so it is truly a community event kind of like football games! Also, people want to come to the fair on opening day, go to this great dinner, maybe hear the Gospel Singers and watch their friends and neighbors in the parade. Some of the kids in the VUHS band are usually in on the parade as well.” So come and partake in the best that summer in Addison County has to offer. Great food, great fun, great friends and support a local team that annually involves teens from two schools in a sport that helps them develop body, mind and character.
