Edward J. Ricard

PORT HENRY, NY - Edward J. Ricard, age 76, died Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Fletcher Allen Health Center in Burlington with his daughters at his side.  He was born in Middletown Springs, VT on August 31, 1936, the son of Manuel and Eleanor (McLaughlin) Ricard.

    He attended Brandon High School in Brandon, VT  and married Phyllis Mosher in 1955.  Mr. Ricard was a logger and operated heavy equipment.

    He was an avid hunter and a passionate fiddler and played all over the state of Vermont and Eastern New York with his very close friend, Geraldine Martel.  They played at state fairs, nursing homes and other gatherings providing much pleasure to others less fortunate.  He was a member of the Champlain Valley Fiddlers, Northeast Fiddlers and the Adirondack Fiddlers.  He was a good friend to many and a wonderful brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

    He is survived by 2 daughters, Judy (& George) Disorda and Sherry (& Bernard “Chip”) Humiston, all of Brandon, 4 grandchildren, Jesse (& Johanna) Disorda of Leicester, Gary (& Lily Bixby) Benoit of Brandon, Thomas (& LeAnne) Disorda of Salisbury and Chrysty (& Chad) Palmer of Arlington, WA, 9 great-grandchildren, Bradley, Dylan, Jared, Cole and Riley Disorda, Stephanie and Lauren Palmer and Colby and Reece Benoit, a sister, Lorna Ricard, Hartford, VT and a brother, Byron Ricard of Brandon, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.  He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers, Donald Ricard and Leslie Ricard and a special friend, Frances Cowin.

    The funeral will be conducted Friday, May 24, 2013 at 11AM in the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home.  Reverend John McDonald, pastor of the Forestdale Wesleyan Church in Forestdale will officiate.  A graveside burial and committal service will follow in Forestdale Cemetery in Forestdale.

    Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Vermont Heart Association,  434 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495 or the charity of your choice.

Chester S. Hallock

GOSHEN - Chester S. Hallock, Jr., age 65, died Saturday, May 18, 2013 at his home.  Chester was born July 8, 1947 in Middlebury, the son of  Chester S. and Esther (Hall) Hallock, Sr.  He graduated from Otter Valley Union High School, class of 1967 and enlisted in the US Marine Corps out of high school and received an honorable discharge in 1970.  He served in the Republic of Viet Nam from 1967 – 1969.  Chester continued his education in later life, graduating from The College of St. Joseph in Rutland in 1991 with a BA degree.

    Chester was employed for several years as a land surveyor for Spencer Company in Rutland and had worked as a nurses aid at the former Brandon Training School. He retired in 2001.  He enjoyed chess, fishing and puttering and playing poker. He was a member of American Legion Post 55 in Brandon.

    Survivng are two sons, Chester S. Hallock, III, Goshen, Shawn Hallock, Cornish, NH, a brother, Gordon Hallock, Goshen, 2 sisters, Dolores (Doty) McKeighan, Goshen and Erma Jean Dressel, Olympia, WA and a grandson, Zachery Hallock, Cornish, NH. His parents and two sisters, Linda Hallock and Naomi Hallock predeceased him.

    Friends may call at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home, 26 Franklin St., Brandon
on Tuesday, May 28 from 11AM – 1PM.  The funeral will follow the calling hours
at 1PM at the funeral home with the Reverend Richard White, pastor of the Brandon
Congregational Church officiating.  Burial with full military honors will follow in the
Goshen Community Cemetery in Goshen.  Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Addison County Home Health & Hospice, Middlebury, VT 05753-0754
