Margaret R. (Peg) Dragon

East Middlebury- Margaret R. (PEG) DRAGON passed away  peacefully on September 14, 2012, at her home in East Middlebury after a long illness. She was born in Ripton, Vt. on August 10, 1922 to Milo W. and Jennie (Benedict) Masterson.

   Growing up, Peg lived in Ripton, East Middlebury and Salisbury.

   She married Ralph E. (Mike Dragon on December 12, 1944 in Hubbardton, Vt. After living briefly in Connecticut during WWII to work in a war factory, they came back to Vt and settled in East Middlebury. They had six children. Peg loved to sew and cook. She also loved music and played seven instruments by ear She enjoyed writing songs and poetry and tending her many house and porch plants. She made many stuffed animals and dolls for her grandchildren and numerous Care Bears and Cabbage Patch kids for people when they became popular in the 1980’s and hard to find in stores.

   Survivors include her daughters Rhonda (Leon) Whitehead of Brookneal, Va. Rhoda (Barry) Dragon of East Middlebury, and Tammy (Mark) Nadeau of East Middlebury. Sons, Ralph (Lynn), Randy (Mary) and Danny, all of East Middlebury. Thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. One of their nicest times was Christmas Eve at Grandma’s hosue.

   She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, and all 5 of her siblings.

   Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in East Middlebury on September 17. A private burial was held at Prospect Cemetery immediately following.

   The family would like to express their sincere apreciation to Addison County Home Health and Hospice for the excellent care Peg  received while remaining in her home following a stroke in 1986.

Richard Francis Fitzgerald, Jr.

BENSON- Richard Francis Fitzgerald, Jr., age 44, died Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

   He was born in Middlebury on November 9, 1967, the son of Richard F. and Louise V. (Euber) Fitzgerald, Sr.  He was raised in Middlebury and received all of his schooling there.  He had a great love for people and enjoyed story telling.  He loved animals, wolves and horses, and had an amazing matchbox car collection.

   He is survived by a sister, Tina Francis of Middlebury, his caregivers, Ami and Charles Frappier and their children Abigail and Nathanial with whom he lived, his guardian, Dale Severy, Middlebury, several aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.

   A graveside service was held Friday, October 19, 2012  in the Forestdale Cemetery in Forestdale.  Reverend Robert Bove, pastor of the Brandon Baptist Church in Brandon will conduct the service.
