Tiger Seniors Play Their Final Regular Season Home Game

By Mike Cameron

The MUHS senior players were introduced to the home crowd at Doc Collins Field for what would be their last home game ever as players.  They were greeted by a solid crowd of supporters, a tough opponent and a driving rain storm.  When the game was over the supporters were still there. it was still raining hard and  the Tigers had notched a win over the CVU Red Hawks.   The Tigers now qualify for a higher seed in the post season playoff system. the coaching staff has to be much more optimistic than they were earlier in the season.  Their next opponent will be announced this week.

Let's take a look at the seniors who have put on the “Orange and Black” for the last time at Doc Collins.  According to the games official program handed out on Friday night October 19th, 2012 they are: Dereck St. George of Bridport, Dan Scholten of Weybridge, Darren Desabrais of Middlebury, Tri Capt-Tyler Provencher of Weybridge, Cody Broughton of Bridport, Hunter Dyer of Bristol, Tri Capt-Mitchell Clarke of Shoreham, Walter Odell of Middlebury, Taylor patterson of Shoreham, Derek Bagley of Salisbury, Christopher Wright of Middlebury, Skyler Shute of Middlebury, Victor Fifield of Bristol, Trevor Emilo of Bristol, Gabe Laberge of Shoreham, and Thomas Langevin of Middlebury. if we missed anyone it is only because they were not on the

team roster.  We congratulate each senior on four years of hard work and some great games played.
It would also be totally incomplete without mentioning “the Friends of Middlebury Football” and their tireless volunteerism.  This group is one of the most successful and energetic found anywhere supporting high school sports.  The field was swamped with heavy rain and in some sections of Addison County record amounts of rain fall were recorded prior to game time. The playing surface at Doc Collins held it's own in this monsoon and is only because of new drainage and hours of volunteer effort that it was not damaged considerably.  A remarkable job indeed.

The Tigers will now move on to the post-season.  Forget the records and the past, they are in and now it's a brand new season for the MUHS Tigers.
