Middlebury Fitness has a new majority owner who is very excited to be working back in town.  Jerrod Rushton, of Cornwall, has been in the business of health and fitness for close to fifteen years.  Twelve of those years were spent at Vermont Sun and most recently Jerrod was Director of the Rehab Gym in Colchester, Vermont.  When Mr. Rushton heard of the possibility of co-owning a gym, not to mention one in Addison County, he jumped at the idea.

Jerrod spoke with Rob Albert who in passing mentioned selling his share of Middlebury Fitness.  “When Rob and I started talking and I realized this was a real possibility, I was all over it.”  Jerrod felt he was the right person, one who would fit in well with current philosophies and mesh with Bob Falta, the co-owner of Middlebury Fitness.  He feels using the current business plan, one which has been successful, is the way to go.    There will be no earth shattering changes right away.  “I need to get in there and see what is working.  I have a few ideas for potential changes.  One change I am making right away is adding the Body Pump class.”  Designed by Les Mills, Body Pump primarily focuses on using barbells and repetition to enhance muscle sculpting, toning and strengthening.  Besides a couple minor changes Jerrod adds, “From what I hear from members and the community is that they love the customer service and the smiling faces at Middlebury Fitness.  I want to make sure to give everyone the respect they deserve.  I hope the current members know that.”

Jerrod and his wife and their two daughters, Jaden, 7, and Jordan 2, were at one point considering leaving Addison County to move north to Chittenden County and when this opportunity came about the  family was overjoyed to stay.  “We value this community.  That is why this opportunity is so special.   I like the feeling of a real community, small town living, and I value it.”

There will be an open house Saturday, April 14, 8am-12pm.  There will be a bunch of different classes and demos to try such as TRX, Body Pump, and Spinning and many door prizes!  If you are thinking of joining now it the time to sign-up or come in for a visit and meet Jerrod.
