Warren Thomas Lillie

Leicester: Warren Thomas Lillie, age 51, died March 1, 2012, at his home in Leicester.

 Mr. Lillie was born in Florence, Italy, on March 15, 1960. He was the son of A. Lloyd and Barbara (Bailey) Lillie. He received his early education in local Newton (MA) schools, and was graduated from Newton North High School, where he later worked. He was an active member of the Newton YMCA. He, his mother and sister were graduated from Boston University on the same day, with the same degree. He worked for many years as a teacher with students with special needs, at the Learning Prep and Carroll Schools in Massachusetts and in the Randolph (VT) Union High School, where he was the Director of Project Achieve. He was also a respite provider for the Clara Martin Center and a volunteer at the Addison County Teen Program in Middlebury. Mr. Lillie had a gift for connecting with youth even after he stopped teaching, he continued to be involved in any way he could with teens in the community. He was a mentor to many and taught guitar at the ACT program as well. He loved the outdoors and could be found on Lake Dunmore, in any season, fishing in open water and on the ice. He loved to teach kinds to fish and hooked many for life. Vermont was truly home to him and his love of nature and wildlife made this a peaceful place for him during some difficult times. He had been the caretaker of Camp Chickami, the YMCA Day Camp in Wayland, MA.

Surviving is his wife of 30 years; Coleen Lillie of Leicester, his parents, A. Lloyd and Barbara Lillie of Newton, MA, a foster son Riehlen LaRow, 2 sisters; Nina Ledoyt and Lisa Taylor both of Newton, MA. Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive him.

 The memorial service “In Celebration of His Life” was held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Middlebury American Legion Post #27. Family and friends shared in the ceremony, followed by a time of fellowship & remembrance.

 A private graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date, in West Hill Cemetery in Rochester.

Ellsworth George Galvin

Salisbury: Ellsworth George Galvin, age 88, died Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

 Mr. Galvin was born in Salisbury on April 28, 1923. He was the son of George and Florence (Gale) Galvin. He received his early education in local Salisbury schools and was graduated from Brandon High School, class of 1941. He has been a resident of Salisbury all his life. He and his late brother Stanley co-owned and operated the family farm for over 50 years. He retired in 1996. He had served the town of Salisbury as a selectman, for several years. He was a member of the Salisbury Congregational Church.

 Surviving is his son; Daniel “Elvis Presley” Galvin of Bristol, his daughter-in-law; Ruth Galvin of Middlebury, 4 sisters; Eleanor Place of Peru, NY, Marjorie Galvin of Bennington, Josephine Haines & husband Carleton of Essex Jct., and June Lucia of South Windsor, CT. His care provider and sister-in-law; Nancy Galvin and special friends and care providers; Ernest & Susan Coburn. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his wife Doris (Narabone) Galvin, 2 sisters; Laura Oney and Elizabeth Davis and his brother Stanley G. Galvin.

 The funeral service was held on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Salisbury Congregational Church. The Rev. John Grivetti, pastor officiated. A private graveside committal service and burial followed, in the family lot, at Holman Cemetery.

Janet Elva Landon Duffany

Rutland:Janet Elva Landon Duffany, 77, formerly of Bridport, died Monday morning March 5, 2012 at the Pines at Rutland.

She was born April 6, 1934 in Florence, VT the daughter of the late Fred and Helen (Martin) Landon Sr. Janet attended schools in Florence and Orwell.

Janet retired from Simmons Precision-Hercules, B.F. Goodrich Corp,  and had previously been employed by Shoreham Coop.

She married E. Arthur Duffany in Bridport on February 12, 1955.
Janet was a member of the Brandon American Legion Auxiliary, the Rutland Family Campers, Good Sam Club and the Bridport Snow Birds.

She is survived by her brother, Chester Landon and his wife Mary of Rutland, one sister, Mary Ann Turpin and her husband Ernest of Shorham, a brother-in-law, Roger McCray of Middlebury, by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Janet was predeceased by her husband E. Arthur Duffany, by her sisters, Betty McCray and Florence Landon, and two brothers, Fred Landon Jr. and Arthur “Bunny” Landon.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in St. Genevieve Cemetery in Shoreham.

Joseph Chastenay

Ludlow:Joseph “Joey” Chastenay, age 58, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the Gill Odd Fellows Home in Ludlow.

 Mr. Chastenay was born on February 4, 1954. He was a former resident of the Brandon Training School.
Surviving is his guardian; Duncan Schroeter of Ipswich, MA.

 The graveside committal service and burial took place on Friday, March 9, 2012, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon. The Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church officiated.
