Lyle Frederick Burt

HUBBARDTON—Lyle Frederick Burt, age 85, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland.

   Mr. Burt was born in East Shoreham, VT on April 7, 1926.  He was the son of Lester and Margaret (Farnham) Burt.  He grew up in Sudbury, attending Sudbury schools and graduated from Brandon High School class of 1943.  He worked on the family farm and enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1944 and served until 1946.  After his military service he worked on a fishing boat out of Brelle, NJ and later in the construction business.  He returned to Vermont in 1950 where he was employed for Bartlett Tree Service and then started to work for the Vermont Highway Department in 1957 and retired in 1990.

    He and the late Jean Rojecki were married on April 29, 1951.  Mrs. Burt died April 12, 2007.

    Mr. Burt’s memberships included the Congregational Church in Sudbury, the Edson Detachment of the Marine Corps League in Rutland and American Legion Post 31 in Rutland.

    Surviving are two sons, Christopher Burt of Brandon and Peter Burt of Castleton, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.  A brother, Edson Burt and a sister, Edith Moore predeceased Mr. Burt.

     A graveside committal service with military honors will be held in the springtime at Lakeview Cemetery in Hubbardton.   Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of one’s choice. Miller and Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon is handling the arrangements.

George Harold Watrous

ORWELL—George Harold Watrous, age 53, passed away with his loving family by his side, on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

    Mr. Watrous was born in Bellevue Maternity Hospital in Schenectady, NY, on April 7, 1958. He was the son of Charles and Rose (Holbrow) Watrous. He was a graduate of Ichabod Crane High School. He attended SUNY Morrisville, NY College where he earned his degree in Agriculture Engineering. As a young man he achieved Eagle Scout Honor. He was instrumental in the formation of Boy Scout Troop #109 in Orwell, serving as Scout Master for many years. George, a Farmer by choice turned his love of farming into owning his own business, Say-Wat Ag Service.

   Survivors include his wife Cindy of Orwell; whom he married on her father’s farm in Piermont, NH on May 19, 1979, a son Jacob Watrous & his wife Heather of Pittsford, 2 daughters; Lindsey Watrous & fiancé Matthew Walker of Shrewsbury and Megan Watrous of Orwell. His siblings; Ellen Bernritter & her husband Robert of Rutland, Caroline Mioducki & her husband Bill of Florida and Bob Watrous & his wife Pat of New Jersey, and his sisters-in-laws; Cheryl Watrous and Genevieve Watrous, and his loving dogs Tucker & Mollie also survive him. He was predeceased by his parents and 2 brothers, Harry Watrous and David Watrous,
