Tyler Provencher hit both of his two free throw shots with 13 seconds left on the clock in the fourth quarter, securing a 53-50 win over the Fair Haven Slaters in boy’s high school basketball at MUHS on Friday night.  Play on the court was a battle in the fourth quarter.

When I asked Coach Altemose why Middlebury won he said.  "Both teams played well.  We're very similar teams in size, athleticism, and what we're trying to do.  I was excited to see us respond to the run that they made in the 3rd quarter.  We went from up 8 to down 2 but then immediately took control back with a 3 and a put-back." The key difference in the game was Middlebury winning the rebounding battle.  They had 38 to Fair Haven’s 28 and had 23 second chance points to their 15.

The Tigers played excellent defense and managed to hold Slater Robert Coloutti to 2 points in the 4th quarter.

Coloutti finished with 22 points for the game.  Provencher had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Marrott Weekes had 8 points and six rebounds.    Mitchell Clarke had 9 points and 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.  David Burt shot 11 points with 3 assists.  As a whole the team had 38 rebounds and 9 turnovers.

The next couple games for the Tigers will be Tuesday, January 10th  at home vs. Montpelier at 7 pm  , and Thursday the 12th away at Fair Haven.
