Rodney Eugene Mott

GOSHEN— Rodney Eugene Mott, age 76, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at his home in Goshen.

    Mr. Mott was born in Alburg on December 29, 1934. He was the son of Charles and Eva (Bourgeois) Mott. He has been a resident of Goshen since 1981 moving here from the Vergennes area. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army, in the Military Police. Mr. Mott was a Vermont State Police Trooper for several years before taking a job with the Vermont State Department of Corrections. A position he held for 27 years. He retired in 1990.  He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing and hunting. He also was an accomplished carver of duck decoys.

    Surviving is his wife Mary “Lucy” Stephens-Mott of Goshen, a daughter Carrie Whitmore of San Francisco, CA, 3 sons Tim Mott of Cavendish, Eric Mott of Baltimore, MD, and David Stephens of Milton, WI,1 brother Everett James Mott of Champlain, NY, 3 sisters; Judith Letourneau of Champlain, NY, Clair Dobson and June Pappas  both of Plattsburgh, NY and his first wife and mother of his 3 son’s; Diane Mott of Goshen. 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his son Kevin Mott in 2001, 2 brothers Charles L. Mott and Frederick Mott and a sister Evelyn Reynolds.

    The memorial mass “In Celebration of His Life” was held  Friday, December 23, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon. The Rev. Albert “Skip” Baltz, pastor will be the celebrant. The graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, will take place, at a later date, in Goshen Community Cemetery.

    Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in his memory to; The Brandon Area Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 232, Brandon, VT 05733.

    Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Jocelyne Marie Pelletier

LEICESTER— Jocelyne Marie Pelletier, age 50, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at her home in Leicester.

    Ms. Pelletier was born in Pawtucket, R.I. on April 11, 1961. She was the daughter of Paul and Jeanne (Metivier)  Lacombe. She grew up in Lincoln, R.I. where she received her early education and graduated from Lincoln (RI) high school, class of 1979. She afterwards graduated from cosmetology school in Providence, RI. She had worked as a beautician in Rhode Island until moving to Leicester, VT in 1993. She had worked as a Production Supervisor for Questech Corp. in Middlebury, VT for several years. She later worked at Sully’s Restaurant in Brandon, VT as a waitress for several years before joining the staff at Brandon Falls Diner. She enjoyed animals, horse back riding, and photography and was an avid poetry writer.

    Surviving is a son Matthew Lacombe of Providence, RI, 2 daughters Elizabeth Ann Pelletier of Whiting, VT and Sarah Murphy of Cumberland, RI, her parents; Paul and Jeanne Lacombe of Lincoln, RI, 1 sister Nicole Miranda of Lincoln, RI, 4 brothers Daniel Lacombe and David Lacombe both of Cumberland, RI, Stephen Lacombe of Providence, RI, Michael Lacombe of Uxbridge, MA and her former husband David Pelletier of Bennington. 2 grandsons and many nieces, nephews & cousins also survive her.

    The memorial mass “In Celebration of Her Life” will be held at a later date, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Albion, RI.

    A private burial will take place in Precious Blood Cemetery in Woonsocket, RI.

    Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; Addison County Humane Society, 236 Boardman St. Middlebury, VT 05753 or to the Brandon Area Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 232, Brandon, VT 05733.

Phyllis Louise Quesnel

MIDDLEBURY— Phyllis Louise Quesnel, age 85, died Sunday, December 25, 2011, at the home of her daughter in Hopkinton, MA.

    Mrs. Quesnel was born in Orwell on April 18, 1926. She was the daughter of Robert Leo and Irene (Swenor) Ryan. She grew up in Orwell where she received her early education. On October 16, 1945 she married George J. Quesnel in St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Orwell. They moved to Middlebury in 1949 where she worked at Van Raaulte for several years. Mr. Quesnel predeceased her May 27, 1984. They had owned and operated Quesnel’s Laundry, in Middlebury for more than 25 years, selling the business in 1981. Phyllis continued working in home care for the elderly for over 25 years, retiring in 2007. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury. She enjoyed cooking, gardening & reading and was a member of the quilting club in Middlebury. She had also volunteered many hours for various non profit organizations over the years. She belonged to the Middlebury American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Middlebury V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

    Surviving are 2 daughters; Constance “Connie” Hotte of Shelbyville, TN and Shelley M. Quesnel-O’Rourke of Hopkinton, MA, 1 son Thomas J. Quesnel of Cornwall, 2 brothers; Allen Ryan of Brandon and Clayton Ryan of Shoreham, 2 sisters Judy Mitchell of Middlebury and Barbara Mazula of Plattsburgh, NY. 5 grandchildren; Brian Hotte, Tammy Hotte, Robin Garvey (Hotte), Scott Quesnel, 11 great grandchildren; Keith Armstrong, Kayla Quesnel, Alexis Quesnel, Paige Quesnel, Tyler Quesnel, Kiera Garvey, Colin Garvey, Clare Garvey, Aidan Hotte, Andrew Hotte and Jason Hotte, & many nieces, nephews & cousins also survive her. In addition to her husband she was also predeceased by 2 brothers; John Ryan and Robert Ryan, a sister Ida May Quesnel and her grandson Matthew Quesnel.

   The memorial service “In Celebration of Her Life” will be held at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon, at a time to be announced in the spring. The Rev. Albert “Skip” Baltz, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon will officiate. The graveside committal service and burial will follow, in the family lot, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.

    Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Association, 19 Elm Street, Middlebury, VT 05753 or to the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department, 5 Seymour Street, Middlebury, VT 05753.

Richard Charles Humiston

 

FORESTDALE— Richard Charles Humiston, age 63, died Saturday, December 24, 2011, upon arrival at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

    Mr. Humiston was born in Sudbury on December 27, 1947. He was the son of Arthur and Fleda (Harriman) Humiston. He was graduated from Otter Valley Union High School, class of 1966. Mr. Humiston was the owner and operator of Richard Humiston Rubbish Removal Service. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of past president of the Neshobe Sportsman Club, and loved 4 wheeling. He was a life member of the N.R.A.

    Surviving is his wife Joyce (Austin) Humiston of Forestdale; whom he married in Brandon on August 20, 1967, 3 daughters; April Parent of Starksboro, Stacy Humiston of Rutland and Christine Denis of Forestdale, his adopted son Shawn Humiston of Forestdale, a sister June Forrest of Brandon and a brother Robert A. Humiston of Boulder, CO. He was predeceased by a brother Bernard A. Humiston in 1987.

    A private graveside committal service and burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

    Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in his memory to; The Richard Humiston Memorial Fund, for the benefit of his wife, Joyce c/o Miller & Ketcham, 26 Franklin St. Brandon, VT 05733.
