SUE  FLANAGAN

MIDDLEBURY— Mabel Sue Flanagan, 93, passed away and joined the love of her life, her late husband Eric M. Flanagan, on Monday, December 19, 2011 at Fletcher-Allen Healthcare, Burlington.

    Mrs. Flanagan was born in Orwell July 3, 1918 the daughter of the late John C. and Grace E. (Underwood) McIntyre.

    Sue was a homemaker and retired bookkeeper for Brown’s Auto Parts.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Daughters of the American Revolution and a longtime member of the United Methodist Women and the Middlebury United Methodist Church.  

    She particularly enjoyed her family, being an avid Boston Red Sox fan and a supporter of the Addison County Humane Society.  Sue was a bird watcher and lovingly provided food for them for many years.  

    In addition to her husband who died August 12, 2002, she was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Elizabeth “Betty” Wilder on January 23, 2010 and a sister, Marie Hornbeck.

    Surviving family members include her grandchildren, Michael Livingston of Middlebury  and Melissa George and her husband Greg of Colchester; her son-in-law, Richard Wilder of Middlebury; her great grandchildren, Jenna Livingston, Kylie George, Kelsey George, Madison George, and Hayden George.  

    There will be no calling hours.

    A memorial service was conducted Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Middlebury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Elisabeth Smith, pastor, officiating.  Spring burial will take place at Case Street Cemetery, Middlebury.

    The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Middlebury United Methodist Church, 47 North Pleasant St., Middlebury, VT 05753 or to Addison County Humane Society, 236 Boardman St., Middlebury, VT 05753.

Justin Collins Brande

CORNWALL—Justin Collins Brande, age 59, died early Thursday morning, December 15, 2011, at his home in Cornwall, surrounded by his family.

    Mr. Brande was born in Middlebury on May 18, 1952. He was the son of Justin Herbert and Susan (Kennedy) Brande. He was a graduate of Middlebury Union High School, class of 1970. He furthered his education in European Universities as well as colleges in the United States. He began a career in the banking business, as a teller, with The National Bank of Middlebury. He advanced thru the ranks becoming a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, a career spanning more than 37 years. He was proud to be a resident of Cornwall. He served as the Cornwall Town Treasurer for many years and volunteered for the mosquito control program. He was a Past President of The Middlebury Rotary Club and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

    Surviving is his wife; Margaret (Brennan) Brande of Cornwall; whom he married in London, England on May 18, 1974, 2 sons; Justin A. Brande of Cornwall and Devin C. Brande of Washington, DC, a daughter Natasha A. Brande and a granddaughter, Izabelle Brande both of Marshall, MI. Many good friends also survive him.

    The memorial service “In Celebration of his Life” will be on January 21, 2012, at 11 AM, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury. The Rev. William Beaudin, pastor will be the celebrant. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

 There are no public calling hours.

 Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
