Shirley Seager Sanderson

BRANDON— Shirley Seager Sanderson, age 75, died Saturday, November 12, 2011, at her home in Brandon.

    Mrs. Sanderson was born in Rutland on September 25, 1936. She was the daughter of Guy and Frances (Lamson) Seager. She received her early education in local Rutland schools and was graduated from Rutland High School, class of 1954. She earned her degree from LaSalle Junior College class of 1956. She had worked at the Ayshire Breeders Association for several years. On September 22, 1956 she married Franklin Clayton Sanderson, Jr., in Rutland. She made her home on the Sanderson Family Farm in Brandon, where she helped her husband on the farm. Mr. Sanderson Predeceased her February 10, 2010. After raising her family she began working at Carr’s Florist in Brandon for over 15 years. She enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting and had made many hats and mittens for R.S.V.P, for local donations to children. She was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan. She was a bird watcher and was always feeding them thru the winter. She loved big holiday gathering with family and friends. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her.

    Surviving is her daughter; Susan “Susie” Sanderson of Hubbardton, 3 sons, Franklin “Buster” Sanderson of Castleton, Bill Sanderson of Leicester and John Sanderson of Brattleboro. 9 Grandchildren also survive her. She was also predeceased by a daughter Sharon Cerasoli in 1990 and a brother Stuart Seager.

   The funeral service was  held  at 10 AM, at the Brandon Congregational Church. The Rev. Richard White, pastor will officiate. A private graveside committal service and burial will follow, in the family lot, at Pine Hill Cemetery.

    Following the ceremony the family will receive friends in the church hall, for a time of fellowship & remembrance.

    Memorial gifts may be made, in her memory to; The Brandon Free Public Library, 2 Franklin St, Brandon, VT or to the Brandon Area Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 232, Brandon, VT 05733.

    Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Marion Hurlene Ayers

ORWELL— Marion Hurlene Ayers, age 92, died Saturday, November 12, 2011, at her home in Orwell.

    Ms: Ayers was born in Burlington on July 19, 1919. She was the daughter of Albert and Mary (LaFleur) Viens. She has been a resident of Orwell since 2006. In her earlier years she had done domestic work for several area families.

    Surviving is her care providers; Dawn and Michael Bruce; with whom she had made her home, her guardian; Lisa Lamoureux and her case manager, Lynn Gorman.

   The funeral service wias held on , November 15, 2011,  at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. Albert “Skip” Baltz, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon will officiate. The graveside committal service and burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Ruthanne Costello

BRISTOL - Ruthanne Costello, 46, passed away peacefully on Monday November 14, 2011 after a long courageous battle with cancer.

   She was born in Carnegie, PA on April 1, 1965, and then moved to Wayne, NJ at age 9 and stayed there until graduation from high school. She then moved to Vermont with her family to help operate the family business, Rosemarie’s Restaurant and the Bristol Commons Inn.

    After departing from the Inn she became a cosmetologist and owned Delilah’s Hair Salon in Brandon prior to her illness. Ruthie enjoyed riding her motorcycle with her husband and many friends and she was an avid fan of blues music. She was also a member of American Legion Post 27 Ladies Auxiliary in Middlebury, VT.

    Ruthie will always be remembered for her contagious laughter and incredible strength.

    She is survived by her husband Jeffrey, son David Ciulla, stepson Dennis Costello and the apple of her eye daughter Jillian Costello. Also surviving her is sister Susan Hiles, Pittsburgh, PA ; sister, Janice Stanford and husband Steve – Hamburg, NJ, and brother Kevin Hiles, West Palm Beach, FL. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Rosemarie (Yaccino) Hiles.

    A graveside service was held  on Monday, November 21st at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Middlebury, with reception following at the Town Hall Theater in Middlebury.

   In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in memory of Ruthanne Costello.
