Louis Joseph Smyrski

PROCTOR— Louis Joseph Smyrski, age 92, died Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Rutland Health & Rehabilitation Center.

    Mr. Smyrski was born in Rutland on November 27, 1918. He was the son of Anthony and Justina (Czachor) Smyrski. He grew up in Center Rutland. He received his early education in West Rutland Schools and was graduated from West Rutland High School. Mr. Smyrski worked for more than 36 years at Vermont Marble Company in Proctor. He retired as a supervisor in 1983. He was a communicant of St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Proctor.

    Surviving is a daughter Sheila Genoni of Albuquerque, NM and 1 son Michael Smyrski  of Pawlet. 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his wife Doris Edna Smyrski on April 28, 1995, four brothers Andrew, John, Henry and William Smyrski and a sister Mary Pawlusiak.

    A Mass of Christian Burial wias celebrated on Friday, October 7, 2011, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Proctor. The Rev. Richard Crowley, pastor will be the celebrant. The graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, will follow the mass, in the family lot, at Evergreen Cemetery in Rutland. There are no public calling hours.

 Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Kimberly Janeway Raymo

BRANDON— Kimberly Janeway Raymo, age 50, died Monday, October 3, 2011 at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

    Ms. Raymo was born in Burlington on November 9, 1960. She was the daughter of Richard Arthur and Nancy (Kooman) Raymo. She was a former resident of Brandon Training School. She has been a resident of Brandon since 1999 moving here from Rutland. She enjoyed watching television, listening to music, and camping with here care providers. She loved the swimming pool in the summer and the hot tub during the winter.

    Surviving is her father Richard Raymo of Newfane, her mother Nancy Livingston of Columbus, NC, and her care providers Rita Palmer and Grace Aines of Brandon.

    The funeral service was  held on Thursday, October 6, 2011,, at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. Robert Bove, pastor of the Brandon Baptist Church will officiate. A private graveside committal service and burial will take place, at a later date.

 Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in her memory to; The Brandon Area Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 232, Brandon, VT 05733.

 Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Joseph Napoleon Shackett, Sr.

BRANDON— Joseph Napoleon Shackett, Sr.  age 70, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Mountain View Center in Rutland.

    Mr. Shackett was born in Weybridge on February 27, 1941. He was the son of Arthur and Andrea (Rheaume) Shackett. He grew up in Weybridge and the Middlebury area. He was graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Middlebury. He was a bricklayer, stone cutter and Master Mason all his life. He had worked for H.O.K. Masonry in Richmond and Johnson, for many years. He belonged to the Bricklayers Union. He was an avid fisherman and New York Giants fan.

    Surviving is 4 sons; Edward Shackett, Sr., of Middlebury, Joseph Shackett, Jr., of Brandon, Richard H. Shackett of Leicester and Bernard J. Shackett, Sr., of Pittsford, 2 daughters; Deborah Lynn Molton and Kathleen Bacon both of Middlebury, a sister Mary Conlin of Brandon. 21 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (Bougor) Shackett in 1995, a son Michael A. Shackett on September 6, 2011, 2 brothers Arthur Shackett and John Shackett and 2 sisters Alice Magill and Carol Abare.

 A Memorial Mass “In Celebration of His Life” wascelebrated on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 10 AM, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brandon. The Rev. Albert “Skip” Baltz, pastor will be the celebrant. A private graveside committal service and burial will follow, in the family lot, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Middlebury.

   Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to; St. Mary’s Church, Restoration Fund, 38 Carver Street, Brandon, VT 05733.

     Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
