23-7 was the final score of the game after St. Albans came back strong to score consecutive touchdowns within 40 seconds of each other in the last of the 4th quarter.  The game between the Middlebury Tigers and the St. Albans Bob Whites had its first exciting play of the game when Mitchell Clark intercepted the ball at the 20 yard line.  After the Bob Whites defense held tight another interesting play happened.  The Tigers had two consecutive running plays yet they were pushed back towards their own end zone.  While attempting a punt the play resulted in a safety.  The ball touched the ground in the end zone with 6:56 on the clock.  The ball turns over again to BFA now.   BFA has 2 points in the middle of the first quarter.  Despite the obvious strength and prowess of both team’s defenses, the first half held little fireworks from the offense.

The first score of the second half of the game has Dylan Robinson throwing an 18 yard touchdown pass to Marshall Hastings in the end zone.  The PAT kick is good, making the score is 7-2 with about 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.   Not to be outdone, 30 seconds after the Tiger’s score, BFA’s Nick Jaslowich handed off to Doug Saffo, who scored on a 62 yard run. There were 5 minutes left on the clock in the last quarter when Bellows Free Academy scored with a fourteen yard touchdown pass.  The Bob Whites force the turnover and they score again on a 26-yard pass.  After some creative football plays, St. A gave Middlebury their first loss of the season.  Dillon Robinson completed 4 out of 9 passes advancing 60 yards.  Jordan Connor carried 11 times for 70 yards while Marshall Hastings caught 3 balls and added about 80 yards. Midd plays Colchester next Friday night, 10/14/2011, for a home game. In their last game Colchester won against Rutland 39-20.  It should be a great game.
