Clean Up From Irene

All over Vermont people have been affected by Tropical Storm Irene. This detour routes traffic around the center of Brandon from 7 South near Leicester.  As of August 31st, traffic was being rerouted around the village because of bridge damage in town.

Dry silt causes dust filled air as cars passed near CVPS power station near the city on Route 7.  “Mean” Irene pounded this area with torrential rain and flash flooding over the road and into the facility. Crews were hard at work on Wednesday,  August 31, 2011 to bring it back on line. CVPS crews have been dispatched throughout this service area to repair Irene’s destructive force.

One of Addison Counties most popular eateries was moved from its foundation during heavy rain and flash flooding from Tropical Storm Irene. The Neshobe River tore through the village damaging this building and several others and ripped away chunks of concrete off the Rt. 7 bridge.  Markowski Construction was leading the effort to return traffic through town on Wednesday, Aug. 31st.

In Brandon, one example of Irene’s power is this large crack in the Rt. 7 bridge over the Neshobe River.  To repair, to replace, to resume traffic; it was all being discussed by state and local officials on Aug. 31, 2011.  FEMA and the Governors office have seen the damage to this vital piece of Vermont  infrastructure.
