Jeanne and Bruce Johnson of Rochester, Vt. enjoyed terrific strawberry picking at Douglas Orchards in Shoreham on Friday, June 18th, 2011. “We had a great day,” Jeanne explained and Bruce added “the breeze was just enough to keep you cool and keep any bugs away.” Douglas Orchards has been a family tradition for hundreds of Vermonters year after year, and look a that healthy fruit!

Established in 1759 the Fort Ti Ferry is operating after a late start this spring due to record high water levels. The cable ferry is a vital link between Vermont and New York. A Lilac bush near our publishers house serves as a perfect home for this Robin family. The chicks had just been fed by their mother. It looks like they are ready for more.

Lemon Fair River Bridge on Route 125 is finished. Construction materials clean-up was in progress on Thursday, June 16, 2011. The large cement barriers have been removed for transport and crews are finishing the final landscaping. The bridge is a welcome addition to the Addison County landscape.

Hay rolls are a sign of summer here in Addison County. Farmers have had to wait for fields to dry out, but are finally able to get to this vital crop.
